Thanks for the review, especially the color matching and alignment issues. Helps to have realistic expectations when we come to assemble the whole thing. We are stacking the puzzles individually (smaller 30 x 20 stacks vs your 60 x 40 stack), but you have me wanting to test assemble some bigger sections now. I loved seeing yours all done. 57 puzzling days is an impressive number - very well done!

Thank you, Erik! 57 days was a bit too fast honestly. I definitely feel like it was rushed, but the end result was so beautiful! In the big grand picture of this puzzle, you couldn't really see my alignment issues unless you were looking for them. Other puzzlers had gaps, so I would be curious to see if you have that as well. You might want to wait till the end though so you don't get discouraged by anything! Just put the pieces in those intersections in last. I think that helps a lot honestly. ☺️🧩 Have fun with this one and Happy Puzzling!

Congratulations Judy. I finished bag 21 today. Looking at your pictures, I realized I have put things together not noticing what they were, like the Roman Colosseum, because it was split between 2 sections. I really enjoyed watching you put this together and look forward to putting mine all together too.

First of all congratulations Judy on completing your challenge! Last week, I was lucky enough to take part in solving that puzzle together with a group of people and we managed to finish them just under 20h, but it's nothing compared to your achievement! I totally share your opinion about this puzzle, I love how they look but those quality issues... I understand shifted image between sections (I believe that many companies have such issues and that's why a lot of large puzzles are collages with frames), but to create a pattern that doesn't interlock with itself is a huge mistake and that product shouldn't reach shelves in such state :( Luckily we had all the pieces and after many adjustments we were able to fit them on the wall in the office. The view is outstanding and it's hard to pass them without stopping by :)

Thank you and a huge Congratulations to you and your group! I bet this puzzle looks gorgeous hanging up! Wow! Will you be posting a picture anywhere? I'm not sure what Dowdle was thinking with the quality. I still kind of think they wanted to get it out for the holidays. I also agree that those issues are the reason for so many collage puzzles! 😅 You'll never know if there were issues on a collage! 🤗🧩

Nope, I never found the missing piece. I'm pretty sure it never came with my puzzle, but maybe someone elses!😅 Honestly, it's really rare that I am missing a piece, but the past couple years, I've had multiple puzzles with duplicate pieces! I find that so weird! Lol! I started the Ravensburger 3,000 piece puzzle that was designed by Karen Puzzles! So far, it's really fun and fairly challenging! I like it! 🥰🧩

I’m so happy to have found your site so I got a preview of what this will truly look like overall. I started my puzzle mid February and am two 1000-piece sections away from finishing 30,000 pieces, or HALF WAY! It has been such a great learning experience, helped along by Karen Puzzles experiences with giant puzzles, and now encouraged by your accomplishment. I am wondering, however, how you handled the sections once you were actually putting them together? I am doing each bag of 1000 pieces, sectioning them into four placemat-sized pieces, flipping them over and using Mod Podge to “glue” them together for storage, transport and reassembly upon completion. Handled with care, this method allows for reassembly and then disassembly and re-storage in their original boxes. Karen uses painter’s tape on the back of hers, and there are the clear sticky plastics available for permanent mounting, but I feel these methods were much more expensive than the gallon+ of Mod Podge I am using. I am putting waxed paper or baker’s parchment between these sections in case moisture might soften the Mod Podge so they are prevented from sticking together. Also, taking a clue from Karen and her 24,000-piece puzzle, in working the puzzles numerically down 1 through 5, 6 through 10, etc., I have retained the bottom row from each puzzle to act as the top edge of the next puzzle, and I have set aside the right-hand edge of each section to serve as the left-hand edge of its counterpart in the next row. Labeling each row on the backside 1 through 12, along with the puzzle number from the bag, plus 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B for placement in assembly, and adding 5 to the right-hand retained edge, aids in continuity for initial assembly and will be most helpful when this entire puzzle comes together for display. My HOPE is to find floor space to be able to put this together and leave it for awhile for any public interested in viewing it. I hope to accept donations to benefit our local Veteran’s organization. I agree with most of your assessment of puzzle quality, with the sections fitting together and color differences and alignment issues. I have also had issues with the fit between what was the bottom row of say section 19 and the top of section 20. I have done my fair share of filing, Exacto knifing and in some cases cutting knobs off and adjusting placement to make the pieces fit. In one extreme case, I cut a piece into quarters and seriously remodeled it, but in the end, it fit; and in 60,000 pieces, I dare you to find it, right?!? I have encountered three missing pieces so far, and am hoping that will be all, but I manufacture missing pieces out of polymer clay, paint them with acrylic, bake them and they work quite nicely. If I had appropriate computer/printer skills like Karen, it would be ideal to scale and color print the EXACT piece from the available poster; but I don’t, I can’t, and, again…..find these guys in 60,000 pieces! Dowdle does have the “no missing pieces” guarantee, but in reading about that, they would apparently send the entire section and I wasn’t into reassembling 1000 pieces in the hope of finding a missing piece. So, that is about it! You can follow my progress on Facebook: Joy Lindholm. This has been just a wonderful experience so far, and I am really excited to continue the project to completion. Eric Dowdle has a show on The Magnolia Channel. I have seen only two episodes so far, but he explains his travels and his puzzle construction process. He only paints people and places he has been, which may explain your query as to why the pictures seem to be so much about the United States and a smattering of the rest of the world. Puzzle on!

Hi Joy! Congratulations on just about hitting that halfway mark!! That's a great feeling to know you're halfway complete! That makes sense about Eric's travels and painting where he goes! Thank you for letting me know this! I'll have to check out his show! When I assembled this puzzle, I used 40x60 inch foamcore boards - 15 in total - and put 4 sections to each board. I thought about taping the backs, but I left the sections loose since I wasn't really sure how the sections would fit with the other sections. This puzzle was really loose fitting, so in the end, when we laid it out, we just took the sections and put them together, and it worked great! I think I had about 15-20 pieces in the intersection areas that were troublesome, and just cutting a bit off would've fixed those pieces just fine, but we didn't modify anything. There's a bar in Mexico called Churrys bar, he has every large puzzle hanging on the walls and ceilings and he doesn't glue anything until the full puzzle is together to make sure everything is aligned properly as a whole unit. I've never done it the way Karen does, but I think her way is great for storage. I'm not sure how well it works with mounting/displaying a large puzzle. What I would recommend is that after you reach the halfway mark, lay the full puzzle out to make sure they are truly fitting together and, if they are, puzzle on! But if they're not, you might want to switch to the painters tape or just not adhere anything till the very end assembly. Just to be safe! Tape is more forgiving and more movable than glue, but I think with you taking the edges and sides, things will line up fine in the end! I've done a lot of large puzzles and mounted them, but I've never glued or taped anything until the puzzle was fully assembled. I agree with you that no one will notice the fixed pieces and the pieces you created that were missing! In the sea of 60,000 pieces, no one will notice!! Lol!! I was only missing one piece on the left seam of section 22. I will follow your Facebook page! I love seeing the progress of others on this big puzzle! This puzzle is truly an incredible masterpiece! I really hope you find a place to display the puzzle! I love the idea of displaying it and collecting donations for the Veterans! 🧩🥰 I'm not sure where you're located, but I'd come see it if it was close enough! ☺️☺️ Have fun with this beautiful puzzle and I'll find you on Facebook! 🧩😍

Judy! Thanks so much for your comprehensive and expeditious reply. I was quite surprised to see that this morning. Thank you. I was out of town for four days and am home again and finishing up #27. I need to wait until morning to take a picture and post it on Facebook as my lighting is not the greatest once the sun goes down. I think, aa you said, having these edges off the prior puzzles will make the final assembly a breeze, although I plan to have scissors, glue, parchment and an Exacto knife on hand for the final assembly. So far, once I have modified the intersection piece (it’s usually just one), the rest of the seams seem to snap together quite nicely. I don’t know how far you are willing to travel to see my puzzle completed, but it appears you are over 1300 miles from my home in Northern California. I will say it is a really beautiful drive on 395 or I-5! I’m sure we will stay in touch.

Thanks for the story and review. So 60 1000pc puzzles. AND no sorting time - that is a downer for the overall challenge. Sounds like the quality is not record breaking. Disappointing to see the image quality also. Just not very crisp. But just your sheer dedication to the challenge is admirable. You added 3 years to your brain life.

I kind of had a feeling but your review confirmed it. This company just made this thing to show off that they make the biggest puzzle but they have no clue whatsoever how to do it properly. I recently took apart my completed wildlife puzzle by Educa. No color variation issues, no misalignment between sections. I’m starting on their 42K around the world puzzle right now so I have high hopes for the quality. The issues that you bring up would just ruin the whole experience for me…

@@Addicted2Puzzles I mixed all the bags. So it’s going to take a while. I’ve already completed the border and I’m a few days away from actually starting. I sorted by shape and am now putting all the pieces face up on about 50 hardboards of 60x60cm. I have 37 boards done but it takes about 30-40 minutes per board. I’ve done a lot of big puzzles (18K, 33,6K, 32K) before but only one 18K mixed (at the waterhole by Ravensburger). So I’m really excited about this one! Wish me luck! 😊
