6 Year Old Tetramorium Colony

Комедия

A 6 year old Tetramorium colony, 10,000+ workers strong. The setup utilizes several AntsCanada products, although many of them are quite old (some are actually prototypes we were working on and testing out.
Queen Siting: At the 1:50 mark, upper right portion of screen.
I feed them dubia roaches, shredded wheat cereal, fish flakes, honey and sugar water.

Being that tetramorium immigrans workers can live up to 5 years and even 6-7 years recorded in captivity, it's crazy to think that, if this colony is still alive, that a lot of the workers born when this video was made, might still be alive

Do you have multiple Queens? Or am I thinking of a different ant species?

  • @Ooper01

Tetramorium can have multiple queens during the founding stage, but as soon as the first set of workers arrive, they will kill all but one queen.

I haven't seen the queen in quite some time. I'm wondering if she relocated into one of the Outworlds. I also rehoused them in a smaller Hybrid Mini. Something caused a massive amount of death in the colony in the original larger Hybrid Nest. They are beginning to recover now.
