6 Year Old Tetramorium Colony
Комедия
A 6 year old Tetramorium colony, 10,000+ workers strong. The setup utilizes several AntsCanada products, although many of them are quite old (some are actually prototypes we were working on and testing out.
Queen Siting: At the 1:50 mark, upper right portion of screen.
I feed them dubia roaches, shredded wheat cereal, fish flakes, honey and sugar water.

Wow, they are really big, we also have a pavement ant colony that's in the 1000s, they grow really fast.

No way it's you!!!!
This ant colony is very large and the setup looks good. It's a very nice video, I'm looking forward to more content. Ciao Anttlantis
Amazing colony, I really like the setup!
How is this colony doing today? Are they still alive??
Being that tetramorium immigrans workers can live up to 5 years and even 6-7 years recorded in captivity, it's crazy to think that, if this colony is still alive, that a lot of the workers born when this video was made, might still be alive
Great video love the setup
They’re so big!
Congratulations!
Come back dude! Love these videos

Ooper, what do you feed them and how many times a week do you feed them?

@@Ooper01 Thank you so much!
3:36 😅 I knew it looked like you didn't see the Queen, because when we see her starting at 1:52 you didn't say anything!
Also, do you hibernate them?
@Ooper01
Жыл бұрын
No I don't hibernate them. The setup is too large to try to deal with hibernation.

From a tetramorium immigrans colony I have, the workers of my colony look a lot like the workers of your colony so I think those may be tetramorium immigrans

Yes I believe you are correct.
What kind of substrate do you use in the humidity compartement?
@Ooper01
Жыл бұрын
I originally didn't have any substrate there. Over time, they brought in sand from the out world.
Do you have multiple Queens? Or am I thinking of a different ant species?
@Ooper01
3 жыл бұрын
Tetramorium can have multiple queens during the founding stage, but as soon as the first set of workers arrive, they will kill all but one queen.

Wish I could afford ants canada equipment. The shipping prices are extremely high when you live in europe.

I know. I hate that the shipping is so expensive outside the USA. Everything ships from the USA, so it makes it cost prohibitive for everyone else :(
How are they doing today?
@Ooper01

I haven't seen the queen in quite some time. I'm wondering if she relocated into one of the Outworlds. I also rehoused them in a smaller Hybrid Mini. Something caused a massive amount of death in the colony in the original larger Hybrid Nest. They are beginning to recover now.

@@Ooper01 Oh that's not good, I hope they recover fully, it would be nice to see a maximum sized colony in captivity
how much queens?
@Ooper01
Жыл бұрын
Just one queen. She's been alive this whole time and laid all the eggs to produce all these workers.
6 years, and the queen hasnt died, or did you get a new queen??!?
