6 TRASH TO TREASURE DIY HOME DECOR PROJECTS FOR OUR NEW BOOTH

In this episode, I'm going to take you to our NEW booth but first, we are going to work on six Trash To Treasure DIY home decor projects! First, we'll remake a topiary in order for it to be a hot seller! Then we'll paint and distress a small copper shelf. After that...we'll take a hodgepodge of birds that I've been collecting and make them over into cool cement looking birds using a baking soda and paint method. We'll take a big wooden spool and repair the holes that someone had made in them so that it's worth buying again! After that, we'll take an old letterbox that I got at the thrift store and then paint it and add a graphic to it! And, lastly, we'll take a sheep and freshen it up with paint and a hangtag! Afterward, I take you for a tour to Collette's in Burton, Michigan where we just opened up a NEW booth and I'll show you around a bit! So, if you're ready....then let's do this!!!

I use to do the same, to decorate my home because of one, I couldn't afford the department stores and another because no one else had it and I bought all my clothes from the goodwill young adults would comment and ask me where I got my big bell bottom jeans so they could get some, that was 35 years ago when they didn't no longer make them, I always got compliments on my home and clothes and wasn't embarrassed to tell them where i got them, and I would tell them you can't buy them unless you find some from the thrift stores, I am delighted to see you doing the same, I just got this very nice clock from goodwill that was 2ft by 2ft that didn't work and bought a round 18 " antique brass one that did and took the working parts from it and fixed it, then took a bunch of photos and made a big picture frame out of it and put the glass back in it and hung it, my adult grandchildren and children now want it,

I have used Waverly ink, and White for mixing with baking soda. I know many crafters have moved on from Waverly, especially since Walmart changed chalk paint lines. Or for more exotic lines of paint. None I have tried can surpass Waverly and I will continue to rely on Waverly and Rust Oleum as affordable paints.

Well, after that problem with Wise Owl and the baking soda...that's good to know! Love your creative decorations! I did the iron-on transfers on two teatowels. I was like you where I didn't follow your directions!LOL. My first attempt I cut around the images like how you explained in your video. The second time I didn't. Oh boy, the paper around the image made a rectangle around my image on the towel. The excess paper infused in the fabric. However, I used my iron to heat and melt the excess off. It came off though. Lesson learn! Congratulations on your booth! It looks amazing!

OH, that is so cool! That would be dangerous for me for sure! I went in there to stock my booth and wasn't there 5 minutes and bought $74 worth of shutters! LOL Anyway, thanks for sharing and for watching, Mary Jo!!! XOXO

Kelly I wish n Mom the very best in your new adventure’s in having a booth. I know your going to do very well. Keep doing what your doing cuz your doing it right. As you once said, “ You Got This Girl !” I’ve got to try to do that baking soda n paint. It does make items cool looking. Loved the letter box. I’m glad you didn’t delete your first n second challenge on it. I think you helped a lot of people out at knowing it’s got to be laser print. We live n learn, don’t we? I just wish we had some good thrift shops around where I live. Maybe I should go hit the garage sales this weekend. Sure beats sitting on my duff LOL. Keep us informed on how your booth is doing from time to time. God bless my friend OXOX ♥️😊👍👍

Im so happy for you and your mom opening a booth its alot of hard work but it will pay off in the end. I have some of the birds that had candle wax in them I picked them up at the thrift store for probably $1.00 or so I took paper clay and filled the cavity with it and while it was wet iBooks a piece of heavy cards took and I used the side of it to make lil marks in the paper to look like feathers it worked perfectly they look real so I let them dry over a week and they were still a lil damp so I put them in the oven for 2 hours on low low setting and they dryed and then I did the baking soda and paint on them they are so cute . Thanks for having such a wonderful in informative channel.

New subbie here. Just stumbled upon your channel. Loving your channel. I've been using the reverse transfer method for years using both Lazer and Inkjet printers. . Patience is needed. And waiting is crucial for a professional finish.several Several passes are needed to remove all the paper. And gently. Rushing it will only ruin it.

Love your booth!😊 Thank you for showing the mistakes. Sometimes I get frustrated and want to give up when I craft but you are so encouraging and it helps to see that others struggle sometimes as well. Hope you have a blessed weekend.

If you use waverly chalk paint with baking soda in color steel then apply white waverly wax after paint is dry then wipe off wax it looks exactly like cement and it all sticks very well

I’m impressed at how you paint with so little paper underneath the item. I have paint all over the place and all over me. Great DIY’s! Very excited about your booth! It looks GREAT! The best of luck!

Thank you, Marylen!!! I'm so glad you like the DIYs!!! Yes, I was pretty excited about getting a booth, too! It took a year for them to call me, but we it was worth the wait! We've done pretty good there so far!!!! Anyway, yea...I've been working on that counter for 20 years and if I get a little bit a paint on it...no biggy...I just wipe it up! PSssT...I really do get it all over sometime and almost all my shirts have white paint on them! HEE HEE
