Hi Louie, thank you for sharing tips on the things you wish to knew before starting with graduate school. However, I do believe that one must consider disciplinary differences. Academic programmes, particularly in the social sciences, which mainly rely on discourse on theoretical developments and human/social experiences, do not, in most cases, demand that one has to have some experience before being accepted for graduate studies. I took my MA in Political Science in DLSU immediately after graduating from college. This was on a part-time basis. I cannot remember any rule stipulating work experience as a requirement except for clinical psychology and business administration. Perhaps, in applied programs like engineering, business, and nursing, work experience is needed, but not in some disciplines, particularly in the social sciences.

Kaka grad ko lang sa BEED course, at di pako LPT. dahil pandemic nag enroll na lang muna ako sa Masters. And yes mahirap po talaga, and pressured. But still survived! May bes din na iniyakan ko talaga for 1 week, pero survived! Mag 18 units nako😁 payting!!!!!

Hello Sir Louie. I agree with the tips you shared. Those are very relevant and should be considered before "BEFORE" enrolling in the graduate school. Naalala ko yung time na I just decided to enroll in Master's and it turned out overwhelming to me (physically, emotionally, mentally and financially hahaha). Sabog hahaha. If you're still young, I recommend you invest in continuous education. Mahirap kapag matagal ka hindi nag-school then super maooverwhelm ka pagbalik mo to continue your MS or PhD. Super laking tulong ng mga tips na to. Great video Sir Louie! Keep ut up. :)

Ask ko lng po sana if macacalculate po bah units of masteral ko if major ko sa masteral ay di ko specialization pag nagpa recla po ako into T3. T2 po kasi ako ngayon. Thank you po sa response.

From BS course to master degree and doctorate title, dapat the same specialization and mastery yun kinuha mong course or else kung Hindi sya proper alligned at magkakaiba na course and major, walang silbi lahat ng pinag aralan Mo kahit natapos Mo lahat.

Getting an MA/PhD will depend kung saang industry ka. Sa academe, yes needed sya for promotion. While for some other industries, walang bearing ang pagiging MA degree holder.

Dito po sa Philippines, ang normal assumptions po ng mga prof. in graduate studies ay working or professionals po. In my experience sa masteral and doctoral classes po, weekend po ang claases ko. Pero other schools also offers on weekdays. But you can choose or decide later.

Hi Elle. I would suggest focus first on the board exam. Kasi base on my experience teaching in the review centers, mas nahihirapan yong mga hindi agad nagtake ng board. Meaning, advantage sa mga fresh grad kasi sariwa pa ang mga learnings. Then, if you choose to enrol in masteral na medyo kulang pa ang experience baka mahirapan kang makasabay sa discussions. So, I would suggest, focus muna na board exam then later you may take masters after 2-3 years industry experience. 😊

If I may suggest, I would focus more on passing the board exam first then take some experience in the field of teaching before taking Masteral studies. Magiging mas meaningful ang postgraduate studies mo kung may experience kana applying the theories :D

Hi Sir Motty Martin. No problem po yan. Same with me, engineering ang undergrad ko then business course (MBA) ang masteral. Just inquire lang sa Graduate School requirements, sila ang magdecide po kung may additional course na dapat kunin. 😀

Hi po. Depende po sa school na applyan nyo po. Some schools required vertical alignment with the undergrad course. Pero yong iba mag-add ka lang ng units. I would suggest na visit nyo po yong website ng school tapos inquire po kayo about the admission requirement ng program :D

Depende po sa School Sir. But in my experience, naka pasok po ako. 2 po bagsak ko sa engineering. 😂 Normally ang mas titingnan nila ang position or experiences mo ngayon.

I would suggest focus first on your work kung medyo gipit na finance, pero kung hindi naman, focus muna sa board exam. Kasi the more tagalan mo yong magtake ng board exam, the more it becomes challenging kasi marami kanang pwede malimutan. Yong parang 5 years kang sanay mag-aral tapos maghinto ka, so mawawala ang momentum. Yong masteral naman, I would suggest to take it pag may experience kana sa industry para maka-interact ka with the discussion na work related. 😊
