I always help passenger load up luggage. I always ask if the temp is comfortable. And I always ask if they need a phone charge. And lastly, I keep my car SPOTLESS inside and out. I wash the car every 2-3 days. 80% of my passengers tip me. And most of the time its $5 and above, with a few $3s and $1s scattered in there. One of the best things you can learn how to do as a driver, is knowing when to talk, and when to shut up. I can tell within the first 5 min of the ride. With 6300 rides in the Phoenix market, Ive never had to call 911, or kick out a passenger.

I would recommend driving too slow than too fast. You have to customize to you're passengers. 55 in a 55 is fast to older people. 60 in a 55 is slow to younger people. When it comes to talking I use the mirror technique. Basically talk as much or as little as they do. I had a passenger once who said the guy with was his bodyguard. I asked him if he was famous and a few more questions. He said less chit chat, just drive, I'll still give you 5 stars. I find it easier to work 8pm to 10am, than waking up early enough to start by 4am. However my goal this year is to start by 6am. Drive to around 10am. Do food delivery 11am-2pm. Uber 3pm-7pm. Do that Tuesday-Friday and work Saturday and Sunday. In my market that's about $1700 a week.

I've been driving a month and a half and I live in the Pittsburgh area. I've already worked downtown before and drove enough on my time to learn how the work place is. 4:30 is my start time and I'm roughly 12 miles away. I've had the same passenger 3 times as of today so I know is address when it pops up. I drove him out to the airport this time which is the longest trip with him. 3rd time is the charm cause he figured I live close. Pittsburgh has a schedule like clockwork. At about close to 10 it starts to die down. I might head home around noon. Between construction constantly changing I get out of town cause traffic defeats the purpose. I could say alot about lyft but I'm going to keep it short and simple.

This is good "positive" advice. You get a little tired of the naysayers. When you are first starting out that is the last thing you want to hear. Sure Uber cannot make you rich, unless you want to work 12 hours a day 7 days a week and you live 5 minutes from the airport, but as a side gig, it can certainly help with the bills. Some negative reviews can play a number on your motivation and confidense. I was about to start today, but after watching a couple of the bad reviews I was too scared to get in my car much less open the Uber Driver app...

Hey, even me the rider is getting screwed... Sorry, but they'll never promote tipping. All I want people to realize is that while a server/bartender does deserve their tips... If you were the rider in this case, you don't feel that you're getting screwed? You don't ask yourself, what did Lyft do for me to earn that kind of commission? You are mostly correct that gas is gas and it's provided by mostly the same companies. That being said some of these companies that purchased a gas will use less additives which serve as a cleaner to your engine and valves. I've done some research and Costco gas is good but Arco I would stay away from. To reiterate you're 95% correct that gas is gas but some companies that purchased the gas from the major oil companies do not add enough of the proper cleansers and additives and over the Long haul you may get dirty valves accumulating especially if you have a direct injection vehicle which really needs good gas and regular preventative maintenance. Stay Safe. Blessings

From a former auto - tech you can and should use your own additives, Sea-foam, Z-max, STP... whatever you want to use can be beneficial, no matter what gas you use to make up for that 5%. Minnesota winters make cleaning your car a Daily deal but Like Sams club Mister Car Wash is located every where and for $75.15 with Tax you can Get Unlimited car wash plus 5 of them Clean your inside as well ( Nice } -- I have a bag of Jolly Ranchers on hand witch was a tip from a Part time driver who had high rating but it makes for a happy moment . Focus on serving the rider and Tips are just a gift that comes with it . To save money I buy New car smell on Amazon witch is much cheaper in bulk plus to make them last long I only cut one side and keep it in the baggy then when a rider smelling of Alcohol , cigarette, Marijuana or just bad order { Open window then after a few min just hold New car baggy by heater blower and it spreads all around but it last 3 to 4 days } ... Crazy tip that some driver will not do is I will actually stop if a rider need something because when you do the numbers I have been given so many $!0 to $20 tips plus free food or Water -- One last crazy sick thing for about $12 { puke bags 20 pk Amazon ) True story I pick up a rider last week 40min trip after the Viking lost and I heard the dreaded hick up sound witch is a sign of some one is about to puke , ask if he was ok ( O-YES ) O NNNNNOOO he was'nt so I handed him a Barf bag ( like in the past times please do it in the bag everything will be fine , Stay calm and relaxed ... In the End you save yourself clean up time and saved the rider from Being fined and they know that so like this guy Gave me a $50 tip - ( This dous not happen often and I still have the Same Pk the last 4 years but its paid it self 10 times over ) Be prepared if your going to work late night -

I try to keep music as neutral as I can. If someone happens to be Hispanic, I may turn my SiriusXM to Caliente 151 or a nice jazz station like Watercolors 66. No heavy metal unless requested and some country. Blasting music is out of the question.

Wash your car once a week?! No way. I wash and vacuum daily! Too many people daily... do 20-35 rides daily.

Don't get robbed should be number 1. I got armed carjacked by a teenager and lost all income. Not fun

The only accurate thing he's saying is about driving I drive from 3:00 in the morning till 11:00 in the morning and I make damn good money non-stop rides back to back but as far as being polite nice driving the speed limit doing things correctly it's not it's not a help it doesn't help at all I have been completely nice laugh Kiki joining conversations with people in my car and 5 days later still haven't got a tip from them so it doesn't matter how nice you are to people whether you get their luggage out or you have them with their wheelchairs or their walkers and I've done all of that and gotten absolutely no damn tips like good morning how are you have a nice day God bless you all those things I've even had drinks and candy in my car for passengers wasted my money on doing nice things for the passengers I have done so many good things to get my tips up and I still don't get tips and I'm in Atlanta Georgia it's just the people selfish greedy people that don't want to get up off the dollar like and it'd be a lot of rich people getting my car they don't tip it seems like they're they're like it's against the law the tip somebody or something here in Atlanta and there may be other people on here from Atlanta that do get tips but like I said now getting my car they speak I speak we don't say s*** the whole ride I play some jazz music or some gospel and I keep it cute I don't do or go out of my way any f****** more because I feel like it's a waste of energy and time and I don't have that to do I'm just here to do a job get my money and go and Uber doesn't pay enough Lyft doesn't pay enough since they started this b******* ass up front pricing it's not even really worth driving anymore like you might as well just go get a regular 9-5 and get paid every week I can make more money have more money in my pocket being honest which is why I now only do it on the weekends or when there are events like this weekend it's the PGA little s*** in Augusta you damn right I'm going down there and I'm going to stay down there the whole weekend I already got my room booked

Enjoy your video, and would be a bit more enjoyable if you weren't constantly moving and rocking. I find it distracting. Other than that, good stuff.

This guy is a nice man. However, I learn nothing from this man, he states the obvious. He cites using Costco for getting gas. No need for that, I use a 4x triple cash back credit card, the upside app, and the local discounts from gas stations in my area. Each time I fill up I save 20% on gas from what is posted on the pump at almost any gas station I go. My car ECM unit ROM has also been reprogrammed to reduce gas consumption by 15% rivaling a hybrid engine, in regards to gas consumption. This is just one example, I did run a business for someone else for 16 years. My motto, identify, maximize, and monetize.
