Jeep Compass comes with McPherson Struts with Lower Control Arm Disc up-front while at the rear it has Multi-Link Suspension with Strut Assembly. The suspension setup of Jeep Compass is on the stiffer side and offer commendable ride comfort and handling at high speeds and it takes bad roads with ease. Though ride feels a bit stiff at city speeds but still it is comfortable.

I agree with your quality of interiors and ride quality point. It's better than safari and XUV. But I have my few points to consider. The road presence of safari and harrier is the best. I have not seen any one denying it. Secondly the suspension quality at high speed of safari is best in segment. Thirdly long term prospect is not predictable. These American companies can stop their services anytime in future if their sale is not encouraging. Also the price is higher and ground clearance of XUV and safari is much more than jeep. Keeping all these point I would always prefer safari or XUV.

Mileage on highways for Diesel MT is fantastic, I drove from Hyderabad to Faridabad few days back and got MID mileage of around 18kmpl. Tank to tank also I did calculate and it was around 17+.

some of the reasons people dont consider jeep compass if you want diesel auto without 4wd or in base variant you cant get it for that you have to take 4wd and because of 4wd the difference between manual and auto is 3 lakhs which is a lot tata harrier (one of the competitors) has better automatic and offers 6 airbags where as jeep compass offers only 2 (if you compare tata harrier top variant manual and jeep compass sport diesel manual which are both the same price pretty much) but i definitely agree with everything you said they just need to offer automatic in base variant and with fwd

Always been a Fiat fan and have used almost all of their cars in India -Padmini, Palio, Punto. Saved us in a few accidents. But the fact is that XUV 700 is a very tough competition which trumps Jeep overall in VFM. -Interior quality of XUV top variant is comparable if not better than Jeep -XUV is infact safer in some aspects like offering more airbags, ADAS etc - both cars are built like a tank -Many foreign companies like Ford/GM have left India and Honda/Fiat may also make move out due to poor sales -very unpredictable. However Mahindra/Tata are Indian companies who are here to stay -Mahindra service network will be better and parts cheaper -Now the elephant in the room: heart of the car is ENGINE. Xuv 700 is offering bhp and torque even more than Fortuner at half the price. Its not really comprable wirh Jeep in terms of performance. Take petrol engine- 200bhp with 380nm torque with a 0-100kmph of 9 secs. Will smoke jeep anyday which offers a very common FIAT engine (gem if an engine though) found in almost all of its competitors. Mahindras engine is super refined ajd silent as well. Similar story with diesel where Xuv is offering more power 182bhp and much more torque- 420nm! -Xuv doesnt have a 4wd option though- and except their AWD option- I wouldn’t call any other model as proper SUV SUV =4WD for me- its not about ground clearance alone Overall the point is, Mahindra has produced a made in India beast whose only drawback is waiting time!

One big reason not to consider jeep is of long term reliability as all these American brand will leave India anytime soon like Chevrolet, Harley and Ford. Even the automatic transmission in harrier is far better than the compass.

Bro, your car is a longitude variant and i noticed that steering has leather cover on it, but this variant doesn’t come with leather steering cover. Did u done after market? i also bought longitude variant last month and want to add steering cover. Can u help me out? I must say, i am very happy with the decision which i have made. Yes I know that the sport and longitude variants are not tested but in this comparison I am Comparing Limited variant as it cost 28 lacs on road and is comparable to top variants of safari and XUV and comes with 6 airbags.Also sport variant starts from 20 lacs on road which is comparable to AX5 variant and XT variant of safari.And in comparison to those variants it gets a lot more safety tech.

Bro the safety features and the build quality of the car is mostly same in all the variants! It's just that there are 6 airbags from limited variant and that is mostly due to the sun roof! Apart from that the safety features are same and by no means they (Sports variant and longitude Variant) are making us fool.
