As someone who freaks out when she makes a mistake and who thinks of you as the perfect bassist, it tickled me to see your reaction to the "mistake". By the way, there aren't many who could even attempt that lick. More than your skill and talent, your humanity is what really shands out. Thank you fot brightening my days in isolation.

Leland is freaking awesome don't get me wrong but there's no need to put great players on a pedestal like that. Any bass player could be able to play that lick with enough practice. A lot of practice sure but how do you think Leland got to that point? You should see a lick like that and say I wanna be able to play it almost as well as Leland, not well I guess I can't right now so no one can. I think that sounds really harsh, I don't mean it to be I just know us musicians need a kick up the backside sometimes to get our mindset right and practice more, I know I do.

After that mistake he says "I've got to practice"... 73 years old!!! Golden mindset. My mother is 57 and she says "I'm too old for everything". You are never too old. Arriba mi amigo! Saying hi from Argentina :)
....."We all make mistakes".... Thank you Lee. Keep on teaching us.
Dear Leland, master I really appreciate if you can play the Toto song “Falling in Between”, when you performed live at the same tour. I love the way you played this song with this legendary band. We love you ! Best regards from Chile
I had a plessure to be at Phill's concert in Dublin and hear all band's great job. It was probably year 2005 or 06. It was my first big concert in Ireland. I appreciate You play so long together as one big family. I it's not that coming anymore. Mostly session musician are get hired for the job. Great to see also that mistakes are human nature, doesn't matter how many gigs You've played around the world 🙂✌️
Always caring with his fans and truly worried about all humanity - if it were not enough to be a fantastic musician.
You’re the coolest cat Lee. Thanks for the lessons in bass and how to be a decent human.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing this song with us.
You're the Master Mr. Leland.. I love this Bass line. It's actually nice to see a pro mess up once in a while it gives hope for the rest of us.
Best channel on KZread, Lee. So great for all us musicians. Don’t stop!
I know you just muffed that lick to make us mere mortals feel a little bit better about ourselves. Thanks for doing your part to help us cope! Stay well.
It does my soul good to see you playing every day, and making mistakes. Please keep doing this.
Leland, you are the best Bassplayer for me how ever exist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..I love your Job!
Fantastic, Lee ..... all what you play is full of soul and groove... It's a gift for all of us to be so close to see you playing.... You are a master ....
You've no idea how much your daily posts brighten my days. Wishing you all the very best and thanks so much...
Another good ‘un. I really enjoyed it. The little stumbles just remind us that you’re one of us. Your two walks up the neck near the end were my favorite part. Wish I could do that. Thanks for the inspiration. Rock On
So friggin awesome
You're a beacon of light, Leland! I love dancing to this song and it's your bass that gets me stomping! Great lick, and coming from a bass player's viewpoint, very reassuring to see you screw it up! 😂 I really enjoyed hearing you play this!
Great video. So humble 😎😎😎😎
5:08, that's a great lesson for all people, not musicians only. Thank you so much Leland, I really enjoy every single video you share with us. God bless you and your relatives, take care yourself.Greetings from Santiago, Chile.
WOW!! You are really a legend
Thank you. Very grateful to see such a revered artist is this personal setting.
Thnx for the nice words and the great music.
Dear Leland, "But Seriously" was my first Phil Collins Album which i heard a thousand times. I knew every single note (still know) that was played on any song. There where 2 drummers and 1 Bassplayer that inspired me becoming a pro. drummer/musician; Phil Collins / Billy Cobham and Leland Sklar and that album i mentioned. For me you guys are not only inspiration, you teached me what i means being a great musician and have a great taste of music. For this i thank you a lot. And in case you´re interested in hearing something, let me know. All the best and stay healthy.
Love this song😀👍
I died every time you messed up😂😂 I thoroughly loved this video. Thanks for being so real, this was truly inspiring!
Thank you for sharing this and the other videos of your playing, it's very kind of you, and helpful and inspiring for us bass players out here stuck at home with no gigs or the 'usual' in-person interaction with other musicians.
Thank you for doing this project! So cool to watch - and learn from - one of the very best! Today I am thankful for the lesson I have needed for a very long time - that even the best can make mistakes! I've always been really hard on myself when I clam onstage... Thanks again, I'm hanging for as long as you'll have us!
This is one of my favorites. Also like Do you remember, Dance into the light, well, I like them all. Please continue sharing this. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
haha, Leland, you're the best!
Thanks for doing this. I wish more bassists would do this kind of thing since I'm new and have a hard time hearing it through everything else. It's easier to appreciate the instrument this way.
Fantastic Lee! One of my fav of Phil! Greetings from Belgium. Denis

Hey Lee, the RESIST on your bass, is it painted or is it a decal?
What is the resist sticker about?
Es el guitarrista de philp collins ?

Everyone is human. Thats what allows you to at take 55. x
Long shot but does anyone know why some 5 strings looks huge and then there are five strings like this which look okey?

Leland covers this in the 'My Equipment ' video. He uses light gauge (mandolin? ) strings instead of heavier guage strings.
If you suck... what it's left for the rest of us???!!
If Leland Sklar sucks, I guess I better sell my bass.
