For an Indian, this was very interesting. In some respects, India has these problems too - esp. in terms of what you said about the knowledge gap of politicians. Some things in India have changed for the better - like in terms of customer service. In the government sector, customer service was usually awful. Not as bad now. And we also went through 2-3 decades of having to put up with business monopolies or oligopolies because of govt. license controls. That too has mercifully changed. I also remember how most Indians had no respect for time. That too is changing - especially among the well-educated who do make an effort to be on time. India is in its own transition and hopefully Burundi will also progress in time. Best wishes from India!

India has made great strides in that regard. I have a great deal of respect for the system currently running India. I recognized the powerhouse that India is within a year of living there.

I can 100% agree with the second negative point. My dad had just started getting rich and his very close friend tempted to kill him but failed. But that resulted to our family to flee from Burundi. Burundians are kinda jealousy of those progressing and that lags us totally behind😢, hoping one day it'll change. We've been away with our family and now it's 12+ years since we left. I'm currently in Kenya being in final year in civil engineering and software engineering. Hoping one day to come back and bring transitions. I like your videos mahn. Keep it up. Hoping one day I'll meet you phenotypically 😂. You just got a subscriber :)

Same...dreadful litany as my country, except we've outgrown political tension. Well, in most areas of the country. For me personally, the only con that may not be feasible _(we share plenty of the cons)_ when it comes to Burundi is that French is her official language 😅 I wish she was at the very least using Kiswahili as the official language. Please keep them coming! 0.1) How can we fund you for specific videos about Bujumbura? 1) How much BIF are to selling your bicycles for? 2) What are Burundians doing to get around ban of tuktuks? 3) Why are there no 50+ passenger Ferry boats in Lake Tanganyika? 4) Where is there a market for 10-15 passenger water-taxis for drivers to rent and make a living with? 5) What are the BIF price ranges for the land available, for sale? 6) How is there a Department of Sanitation at the capital? If not, what are the chances of creating one? 7) How hard would it be to work with the government in order to establish a paved asphalt-tar road development company?

Interesting video, and as a burundian I can totally relate to most of the negative points you mentionned. The only one I partially agree (in my experience ), is the one regarding the french language. Because I think it’s rather an advantage to know french. Maybe it would be better if english was taught earlier in school. Personnaly, knowing french was a big plus in my professional and private life. Especially when travelling and being able to speak both languages. And it’s worth mentionning there are a lot of french speaking countries in the world. In Africa alone, 21 countries have french as their national language.

As you said , people keep saying " ooh Burundi is low at width " I can see more unoccupied lands where there is not even one house 😁 , I also hate hearing ethic tensions , people calling each other , I assure you if there will be someone who will call me among those ethnic tensions I'll insult him.

😅. Most people don't even mean harm really. But it's super awkward if you're not used to it.

concerning the problem of ethnicity, many Burundians ignore it, but some, especially those who are educated, know that, before the colonizers came, the one called umututsi was the one who was rich with a high class, and the one called umuhutu was the lower class one; umuhutu could become rich and he becomes umututsi, it was like that; it had nothing to do with the characteristics of the body and Burundians lived in peace. maybe they had problems but that is not one of them. but it was after the colonizers came that they measured certain parts of the body and divided the Burundians since there was hardly anything that separated the Burundians: a single people, a single language, and the same culture. that is the truth. You know what they say, divide and conquer

What is Burundi’s version of an attorney or lawyer? 3. Please create another video about why would Burundi stay using their main language of French when all of their neighbouring countries speak English as their main language? 4. Do you think that because Burundians are “customer-service lazy”, that it creates a means whereas other business competition can perform quick service & phenomenal hospitality? 5. What does the Personal Security Business Sector appear to be like in Bujumbura? As in, other than being possibly “customer-service lazy” and maybe little to no hospitality demonstration, are such services easily assessable? 6. What do you think about the idea of the Personal Security company having both the means to ward off business sabotage and defend against complete annihilation all together? I appreciate the concern and I am glad you liked the video. I choose my words carefully while making these videos and I balance out the content. Should they come after me for my content then plans to change countries will be underway after that.

Damn i agreed with everything since the beginning of the video. However, the political ethnic tensions do not only affect both tutsi and hutu people, but mostly tutsi people in my opinion, we are taught since the very early years of our life that if we want to make it in this life we just have to leave the country and go work elsewhere, for me when i finished highschool i was told that there is no chance for me to succeed in a country where they "don't want me", it's very sad to hear that sentence everyday. I honestly don't care if it's a hutu, tutsi or even a twa(we do forget them a lot)at the top of the country but let us hope for a future in our country and let us have equal rights.

Aahaa , how can we change from french to English then 😞 I need this changement too .on the other hand , you mentioned Burundian economy is growing at the low pace but it keeps go down instead , each year you'll never see a decreasment of prices, the go up always , day to day

French will die out eventually. It is a misplaced language if you consider our location. 🤦🏾‍♂️ The economy is growing on paper.

With time the 6 negative things WILL GO AWAY IN BURUNDI, you just have to wait 10-20 more years for the new generation/new mentalities to take over. I lived in Tanzania as a refugee (1977-1982 and 1984/1985) and my work at the Geological Survey of Tanzania (Idara ya Madini, Dodoma) gave me the opportunity to live in tent camp in the administrative districts of Kahama, Kyerwa, and Nzega and I have spend some days in Kigoma, Iringa, Arusha, Kilimanjaro, Dar es salaam, Morogoro, Tabora. Even now, I feel that I know Tanzania better than I know Burundi that I left on a scholarship just after my secondary school in July 1971 (Thank God before the genocide of 1972). I can make some comparison between the rural life in Burundi and Tanzania. I THANK GOD that the ethnic issues are now discussed in the open in the Burundian society and today as we speak, we have a cabinet minister, a member of Commission de Verite et Reconciliation (CVR), members of parliament who come from Twa ethic group which had been discriminated for so long. As a former refugee yourself, you should see and aknowledge that (and not dwell too much on those negative things). I was able to visit Burundi in 2006 (after 35 years abroad) and in 2018: AFTER DECADES OF INSTABILITY, FINALLY THERE IS PEACE IN BURUNDI and today (28/01/2023) the Burundi president annonced that the African Development Bank (ADB) will lend 3.6 billion US dollars to Burundi to build its portion of the Uvinza (Tanzania)-Musongati-Gitega-Bujumbura-Kindu (Territoire du Maniema in the Democratic Republic of Congo) Standard gauge railway (SGR), SO JOINING THE EAST AFRICAN COMMUNITY WILL DEFINITELY SPEED UP SOCIO-ECONOMIC CHANGES IN BURUNDI. We Burundians are proud to be "francophones" and after the DR Congo (with the largest French-speaking population in the world) officially joined the East African Community in 2022?, FRENCH IS RECOGNIZED AS ONE OF THE OFFICIAL LANGUAGES IN THE ORGANIZATION.

Cycling in the city centre is still prohibited. Though certain paths on the edge of the city centre can be used for sports cycling.
