its true you can be any race and still be muslim, but I assume the "obviousness" comes from the fact that most whites aren't muslim and if the girl was raised in a household where Islam wasn't that big of a deal, then yeah, it does seem highly likely that she wouldn't be muslim. I DO agree that there's no way that that is something that can be "obvious", but I don't agree with you saying that it's a "nonmuslim" thing to say. That's too harsh on her. It's a prejudiced thing to say, but not nonmuslim.

I was gonna say, I was raised Catholic and I’m a Muslim revert now. One of the jokes about Catholic schools growing up was that about 20% of the kids in class are actually Jewish and they’ll be doing chabad after schools. Catholic universities are even more diverse, especially in America where Catholics are a minority, so the Catholic colleges have loads of non-Catholics. The high schools are usually majority Catholic, but it’s definitely not unheard of to have non-Catholic students, especially on the east coast where there’s a significant Jewish population, so more conservative Jewish people like that Catholic schools separate the genders usually. (There are some co-ed Catholic schools but they’re less common). Ironically, I was raised Catholic and I *didn’t* go to Catholic school because it was too expensive for my parents when I was younger. But we had CCD, which was a free catechism class offered at the church after school, and we did that for years.

@@fatea8255 We believe the evil eye is real BUT we don't believe that amulets can protect us against it. It's haram and a form of Shirk to wear such necklaces. There's an authentic Hadith about it. (This is why people are mentioning Zaina's necklace although sadly some Muslims do believe things like the Hamsa/hand of Fatima can protect against the evil eye but it's shirk).

Ask to say the shahada 😂 then either the video would end in a second, or we’d have a new revert

Yesss that’s what I thought too! The fact that she had to think so hard about it and then stated all the normal things that most other religions that fast exempt you for (medical reasons). I think pretty much only Islam and Baha’i exempt from fasting during periods.

I just had a similar experience of disclusion not so long ago. We were all talking in class about food and stuff and I said I can’t eat pork and the “class clown” kept saying I was missing out. I found that rude and whatever and looked to my friend “atheist” and she agreed with him. I have never felt so alone.

I’m studying gastronomy and I reverted to Islam 2 weeks ago xd My major includes tasting lots of food and drinks, alcoholic beverages (and knowing how to prepare them) and when I mentioned to my friend I was worried about that she kind of dismissed it, like it didn’t really mattered since “I had no choice because it’s part of my studies” I understand, since religion where I live isn’t a big thing (and it’s not an Islamic country) however, I did feel kind of bad- sometimes things like that does make me feel lonely, or excluded in a way. But I know it will get better in the future. I’m happy with my decision anyways. We’re not aloneeee ☺️

"One Month I did it everyday" as a muslim i was very dissapointed at most of them, I am a 15 yo muslim and has fasted the whole month of ramadan since i was 11 (not forced, it was my own choice). And seeing they all were mostly over the age of 20 yo. where fasting in a obligation was very dissapointing...

hey guys this is maira from the video! hopefully this comment doesn't get buried. for the fasting exemption question i asked zaina, i wanted to clarify that she did mention menstruation. it was the first one she mentioned actually; she said one of the exemptions was "what we as women get monthly that you (I) are aware of" not outwardly period/menstruation but the reference was obvious + i chalked it up to modesty. not sure why jubilee edited that critical portion out (truthfully the whole editing is questionable for this vid). if i'm asking that question you can trust i was looking out for the same answers as the rest of you lol. hope you guys liked the video nonetheless!

Aryanna well for one my friends can't get over how quiet i look in this video when i was talking just as much as amr LMAO i'm very outgoing so it's weird to see so many of my parts cut out. i think also there were some very touching and profoundly bittersweet moments that would resonate with the "Muslim experience" for the audience, and it is really unfortunate that these parts were edited out. plus we look sort of hostile to each other in this video but genuinely this cast has nothing but love for each other and we still meet up even now lol. the power of editing, it can tell a whole different story.

Laura if you mean why wearing the evil eye isnt a good thing to do, its because you think that its the one that protects you with or instead of Allah, and thinking that is a kind of “Shirk” which means thinking there is another god with Allah. (there are kinds of shirk so this is one of them) and if its this kind of Shirk it means you arent muslim anymore. please someone correct me if i said something wrong

Yall on Zaina's case for not mentioning periods as exemption from sawm... I can tell you were raised in outside middle eastern culture because YOU DO NOT mention menses in front of men. She chose a respectable answer for her cultural custom. The fact that she laughs beforehand shows she knows the answer and is slightly embarrassed by it, so she chose one that is better to say in polite company.
