also with obsidian, you can use things like syncthing to move your obsidian vault between PCs and android phones seamlessly. you might need to use icloud if you're using iOS though.

As it is text based .MD files, in Macos you can search content directly from the spotlight Search box, and open it in Obsidian. I used it to log everything, even contacts were on my Obsidian vault on my last work.

I'm torn between Obsidian and Joplin. I like the way Obsidian stores documents, but Joplin is open source. Joplin does store the documents in a database, but they are just markdown and are easy to export. I was forced to move to Obsidian at work and it was easy to go from Joplin to Obsidian.

It’s been a long time since I’ve tried Joplin and it looks like it’s come a long way. I’ll have to revisit it and consider using it just like Logseq. Thanks for watching!

When I used obsidian, the text files .md were indexed by Spotlight, and that meant that you could just command+space to search for anything even outside Obsidian...

In addition to all of this, since the GNOME desktop environment shares many touchpad gestures and launchpad features with macOS, it’ll make the switch a lot easier for Mac users switching over to a major Linux distribution.

@st_nikolay_pavlov linux mint is a good starting point. I dual boot a Macbook Pro laptop with Mint and Ubuntu Studio. I did a brief distro hopping and then decided to stick with Mint and Studio so that I could learn the FOSS.
