    Hello Mohammed, Can you help me with something? I'm simulating something like this but I need the forces and when i try to open the ODB file, there are just the energy plots. Another question how could you assign a Sheel with the Solid Homogenous section, I'm trying but the option is not available.

    Hello, Thanks a lot for the simulation. It was very informative. Could you please tell how long your simulation ran for? I have exactly folllowed the steps you have said in this tutorial and it has been running for more than 1 day (25 hours and still running). Is it normal because of the explicit analysis type ?     Experimentally. Although, the parameters for general materials have been already published on the internet which were calculated by some earlier experiments .

    Hello. I am working on this similar work. But facing some problems like: when I perform it in Dynamic Explicit, the chip forms. But for Dynamic, temperature Displacement, Explicit I did not found any option for element deletion. Another problem is the stress distribution shows only in chips and W/P surface not in the cutting tool. How can I overcome these? Thanks.

    RF 1 is the cutting force and RF 2 is the thrust force.

    Shamsul Arefin Hi You do not need book to learn machining in abaqus. Just watch the videos metal cutting and indentation in KZread Manny times. Then writ notes For example Step Create parts Step 2 define material Step 3 define section Step4 assembley Step5..... ...... Step n submit Each step explain in detials in your way to understand. I used this way and work it with me. Good luck

    Hi guys I am getting this error when executing the abaqus file...can anyone suggest the reason The executable C:\Temp\6.8-2\exec\explicit.exe aborted with system error code 144. Please check the .dat, .msg, and .sta files for error messages if the files exist. If there are no error messages and you cannot resolve the problem, please run the command "abaqus job=support information=support" to report and save your system information. Use the same command to run Abaqus that you used when the problem occurred. Please contact your local Abaqus support office and send them the input file, the file support.log which you just created, the executable name, and the error code.

    I did 2d and 3d and i defined the same material properties and also i defined for tool and i did the simulation in explicit as you did exactly and i checked the deletion and contact definition and ALE and everything but every time in 2d and 3d abaqus doesnt cut the material and the material sticks to the tool ! Do you know what is the problem? Im confused !

    I check marked the output STATUS "some failure and plasticity models AVUMAT" and now in 3d it shows normal cutting but still material doesnt fail in 2d! i wonder which result output i should check

    Set the thickness of Plane Strain section to you actual workpiece thickness then you will have reasonable values. In my analysis, it was 1 , the default in Abaqus, which means the thickness is 1 m which is too high.

    Hello Mohammed Saber Thank you for this video I followed the video step by step it gave me almost the same result, but the damaged elements are not deleted! where you think is the problem? I selected yes for element deletion! the job was aborted with this error (The elements in element set ErrElemZeroALEMass-Step1 have zero or negative mass.) Can you please send me the cae file

    I have not used the Cockcroft Latham model before and I think it is not available in ABAQUC/CAE. Therefore, you may need to a subroutine.

    Do you know how could i find the equations used in ABAQUS for defining these parameters? for example in"shear damage" section, abaqus wants me some parameters like strain , etc but i dont know what equation it means for "shear damage" ?

    Hi Guys I am working on ABAQUS and have got some good results but now facing some problems that I want to discuss with you 1. I have imported a newly designed tool from the CATIA in .stp format but it is not rotating and only shows translatory motion. this problem I have seen earlier also and my conclusion is that there must be some problem in designing of tool in CATIA. what is your view on this????? can it be the reason or there is some other reason behind that???? As the tool which was succesfully working was also designed in CATIA 2. How to calculate tool wear in ABAQUS??? 3. How to get the cutting forces in x,y,z directions????? I will be highly thankful to you if you can help me in solving these problem????

    Farooq Ahmed 1. I don't know about this. 2. There will be no tool wear if you define tool as a rigid body. 3. Forces can be measured as shown in this video.
