I also have lots of concrete around the house, and although it’s convenient, it makes house look boring. Adding plants in pots would probably be a good solution, but I need all the tips I could get. And thank you for considering my request! I’m so excited 😊

@innapopov4071 I hear you about the concrete. I wanted it for a cleaner look to my landscaping but also wanted the wildness of a cottage garden to it. Will definitely put out a video on my spring garden tour soon

😂 this year has been bad for me . I just planted all my roses 1-2 yeara back . Was expecting lovely bloom this spring . Unfortunately of all the things rats are eating my bushes . They have chewed all the lateral stems on my climbers and they are continuing to feed on any new leaf growth 😢 don’t know what to do . I have been using traps to catch but so far not successful . Any idea ? Very sad that they don’t leave my roses alone

Oh no! That’s awful. I am so sorry to hear that. Are you sure it is rats and not voles or gophers? I know people successfully use chicken wire on top of the rose to help with gophers and voles. You can try covering the rose with it and also use a wire basket to plant the rose to prevent the roots from being chewed on. I hope that helps.

Thanks for this! What would make my climbing rose die in year 1. It is a David Austin climber. Full sun, watered regularly in fast draining soil, fertilized once in early spring and again after first flush…. Also, have you come out to missing buds? My large about to bloom buds are there one day and gone the next😢

  • @AmritaBhortake

Your welcome! Did you check if it had root rot or was attacked by some kind of pest? For missing buds, I have never had that issue but I have seen some buds chewed by grasshoppers. So check if some pests in your garden are eating them up. I am testing something out in my garden and am using these bags on my strawberries to prevent snails from eating them. Try them out on your buds : amzn.to/3KTTms2 Let me know if it helps.

@@AmritaBhortake it’s possible. I was able to take a cutting and root it in the pot it was purchased in. I’m thinking of keeping in the pot next to the harbor. I’ll try the little bag and see if that helps. Thank you!

Your videos are so helpful! Question: I have new David Austin climbing roses east facing. What are yours facing? I’m worried it won’t get enough light but also worried it wouldn’t be able to handle 110 degree days in zone 9b. Any help is appreciated 🫶🏼

Thanks so much for the love. Here are some things to think about. Which specific variety are you growing there? How many hours of sun does it get - maximum and minimum hours? I think it would do fine even with the hot days if you deep water it during that heat but again would come back to the variety and the total amount of sun they would get.

The Eden climbing rose, gets about 4 hours of morning sun.

  • @AmritaBhortake

@@modernmother9972 The Eden is not a David Austin but a Meilland bred rose. It is hardy in zones 5-10 and I know people that are growing it in zone 10 so technically it should do well. I would say, it depends on the exact micro climate and location of where you are planting it. Maybe test it out in that location for this season and see how it does? Depending upon that, you could change the location if need be next year.
