Rarely do you see people explain the modes from a practical point of view, how to actually apply them. Like really showing the progressions you can use. Good stuff.

Thanks! Yes, converting head knowledge to "hand knowledge" is what it's all about.

Absolutely!!! I have been thinking the same. Most tutorials focus on modes as scales, I suppose (and I'm thankful to people who make such videos) - but ignore how to actually use them. I completely agree. Thanks again.

This is garbage. Just garbage. You might as well just make a video of you smelling your own farts. I bet you think they smell really good.

My God. Someone has explained the modes in the most comprehensive manner. This is hands down the best instructional video on modes I’ve ever come across.(in years) Well done Mike!
This is by far the best explanation of modes and how they translate into chord progressions I've ever seen. From the actual text to the pacing to the graphics, it's practically impossible not to understand it. Really well done. Thank you
FINALLY!!! Someone who actually explains modes that can be easily understood!!! Thank you!
1. love the diagrams. 2. dude you are so smart. 3. you have a seriously unique/special delivery with facts. 4. There is no confusion in your delivery. 5. You are to the point. 6 WOW. &7. Thank you.
Excellent explanation! Your visual representations are perfect. My understanding of modes just went to the next level.
So well (visually stunning) explained! Please continue with this series! Thank you so much.

Cheers! More to come on modes. 🤘
It’s like sitting in the guitar class n watching the teacher teaching from a board in front. It’s so easy n comfortable to watch n understand it. Thanks a lot. I was tired of playing major & pentatonics. This really is very important fr me as a musician. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Right on…never knew…light bulb goes off. EXCELLENT INFO. THANK YOU
I don't think I've ever seen this explained like this, you finally made it make sense for me!
This is exactly what I needed to fully understand music theory! I've been specifically wondering what chords I can use to get that "wistful" sound! Your style of teaching is the best out there! Many thanks!
Great video. Great examples of Dorian mode songs.
Music is a gift of God Thank you for doing God's work here on earth !!! Namaste'

@@mikegeorge360 Right on Bro ! Simply INSPIRATIONAL !!!
Thanks for posting this!!
A tiny but absolutely essential bit of information when describing modes is there are no accidentals (black keys) used. It took me forever to hear the modes starting with cmaj until someone made that clear.
Absolute best explanation ever of modes.
Love your voice, so clear and musical. Top notch content, fantastic thank you!
There’s so much to extrapolate from this. It’s a whole new way of understanding keys. Enough to keep me busy for hours. Great lesson, Thank You.
Fantastic! This is great.
So good. Thanks!
awesome video! really appreciate you being so thorough with the theory, whilst keeping it immersive and intuitive!
I’ve been getting really into modes over the past week, and this video cleared up a lot of that with I was uncertain! I just wanted to let you know your video is very well done in explaining a difficult concept to grab. Your singing is good too! I like what you do!
Amazing bro rlly, thank you!
Loved this! Thank you for this lesson!
This is very helpful and well made. Thank you!
Brilliant video, thanks for sharing. I was searching for an explanation of Dorian chord patterns, and here it is! Very well explained.
Congratulations on a great video. For the graphics and good explanation and the examples to make sense of it all. And for choosing a topic that doesn't get much attention...how to use modes. Thanks
This is the best theory lesson I have seen. You really cleared up Dorian progressions and scale. I truly appreciate you.
Useful diagrams, thanks!
Awesome visuals to illustrate relations between notes, modes, and chords!
This is the best video on modal chord progressions I’ve seen to date! Please do more!!! All the other modes please.
What a thoroughly enjoyable insight.
Very inspiring, thanks! 🙏🏻
Quick and simple explanation with examples to the point. Totally understandable. Kudos man.
exceptional teaching clarity thank you
Brilliant. Subscribed!
You are so AwEsOme...I so appreciate you and what you do. And I am accomplished performer and music lover for many years.
Great video. The examples really make the Dorian mode clear
Really interesting video, thank you so much
Very good explanations and examples of real tunes.
With the inclusion of harmony though the scale , this finally nakes sense. I will use this in my teaching as i find it the best presentation.
You just blew my mind.
I had two pet fish named Lydian and Dorian. I told them apart by their scales.

That chart at 2:00 is SUPER helpful!
This was very helpful!!!
Very cool. I've been wanting to play more with this mode and you've been very helpful. Appreciate you.
Thanks for the tips
Amazing Content dude! very well articulated.
Thank You so much for this explanation of modes. Been stuck with some typical chord progressions for years. Very well put. Made my Eureka moments in modes. The raised 6th which is a characteristic note. And a characteristic note is the one different from the functional modes that is Aeolian and Ionian. ❤❤ Thanks a lot. This will help me unlock other modes!
This is such a usefull video on modes! Thanx a lot!
hello there !! I love how good you are in explaining these concepts!!
I realized watching this how handicapped I am by being a visual learner . It also showed me how some of us learn by ear with our eyes .

Music theory literally means "to see sound," so seeing in combination with hearing can definitely help.🤘
Great showcase
First time your channel popped up for me. I enjoyed this video. Thank you.

Linoleum scale floors me..good video! 🤙🎶

Very nice explanation
Really helpful, thanks, this video has improved my understanding a lot
this was very helpful thank you.
A very good lesson indeed!
What a great and educational video. The charts are so well done and clearly the result of in depth research and thinking this stuff through with a passion for truly understanding something that so many have tried to explain but few have been able to. The charts are truly helpful. The examples are very important and finally someone who can sing them to drive home the expression and feel of the music. Truly refreshing. One point that I would like to put on the table on this topic is that there is the tendancy to come away from this thinking that songs are written in different modes while this is indeed the case for some songs, most good songs do NOT employ a single mode, rather they employ multiple modes, and switch back and forth. This is important I believe to come to terms with, because if you really want to understand what makes a song special you have to know the modes and recognize how they are employed in the context of a song...amongst other things
Thank you for the information. you just help me Rise above my plateau
Great video.
This is the ish. Subscribed.
best description of modes
Very informative and educational
Excellent
The Dorian mode is a palindrome in that if you reverse the intervals, you still get the Dorian mode. This is opposed to, say the Major mode, where if you reverse the intervals, you get the Phrygian mode or the Minor mode, where if you reverse the intervals, you get the Mixolydian mode.
24K gold info... Thanks man
Cool... Thanks
this is a high class lesson. Very useful! Thank you

Would love to watch a Phrygian equivalent of this video!
You and David Bennett Piano are the best theory teachers on this website!
Amazing!!!
Wow. Theory does my head in. I used to think it was because I was stupid. No one, no one has explained this as well as you. Major light bulb moment this morning. Thanks Mike. Subscibed
Holy shit!!!! I think I just became a songwriter?! This video has made a penny drop hard! 😅
This what a teacher should sound like!!

What the actual f**k! I’ve watched so many vids on modes and this is the first one the explained the difference between relative and parallel modes and something finally clicked. Thank you.
Good explanation of modes! It would be wonderful to see modes explained in a jazz context by adding the 7th scale degree.
Yayyyy ! Finally got modes ! It’s the diatonic chord progressions following the modal scale not the scale itself ! All the guff (in other vids) about tonal centres forget to mention that !
omg, showing the modes like this made it click
