My late husband's auntie was a nun and she taught me how to press flowers. I loved going for walks with her to look for things to press. The first couple of books reminded me of her gentle nature and fondness for keeping things simple. Lovely books! Thank you so much, Kari. You're always such a font of inspiration for me 💗

Your book collection is very inspiring! I have taken lots of classes live & online with Seth Apter & cannot express how wonderful his teaching is. He also has lots of free demos on his Facebook page. Dina Wakley is also a great teacher. Thank you for bringing the other artists to my attention. I enjoy your videos and look forward to seeing your process.

Thanks Marti, I love Somerset Studio magazine, but it is a bit pricey here. I haven't heard of Artist Cafe, will look into that one. I hope you manage to get some of these books, they are often available used at reasonable prices, I have found. 💗

I think it’s very useful to look at lots of different artists and their work and when you find something that appeals to really think about what it is about the piece that speaks to you. Make notes about what that is, because eventually you will have a unique list of all the things you really like and this will be the basis of your own style. Now I’ve said this, I’ll admit I don’t do it anywhere near often enough! Perhaps I should start a journal specifically for this purpose - an investigation into style… of sorts. 😊 So many things, so little time.

That is such great advice, Terri. I don't do it near enough nowadays, not since university anyway. I do think your idea of a journal to do that is a good one! Yes, all we need is more time! 😂💗

Thanks Toni, I don't do a portrait every day any more, the videos take up so much of my time. I think I got rid of the Kaleidoscope book quite a few years ago and this was Maz's copy. I am thinking of buying it again, though, LOL! 💗
