6.7 Powerstroke Low Power - Low Boost - Engine Light FIX
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
This 2016 F-350 had an issue with low power, low turbo boost when cold and a check engine light, accompanied with poor fuel mileage. The issue turned out to be a faulty diesel exhaust fluid tank heater.

This is one of the best videos here in youtube, the whole time you spoke you gave us hope making the issue look so small it was not a big deal, thank you sir
Had nearly the same issue but with a exhaust temp sensor that went out. Great video!
I miss my 6.7 so much, great motor. It’s a beast. Ford still uses it in the new trucks too which says a lot.
I have also seen the exhaust temp sensors not reading correctly and cause a derate issue
Thankyou! My Def heater has been Out for years, along with power and fuel economy!!!
Thank you Daniel.
I have the same exact issue and when I fill my def tank the check engine light will clear itself in a few miles. Taking it up to the dealership today. Luckily I've read this problem is covered for free.
What about if the boost gauge isn't even moving and it's just making a loud wining sound
Wow thats a good difference of boost
You rock man!
i have a 2016 f250. about a few years ago my check engine went off and come to find out. it was the module in the def tank. that same week, ford sent me a letter for a recall on that same issue. needless to say the least..i got mine replaced at their cost....
Very good helpful video
What a great engine, plenty of power stock. Unfortunately we all have to deal with emissions equipment. No matter which brand of diesel we purchase.
I have the same issue but my muffler has been deleted and no pee tank.
Do you recommend getting a 6.7? I’m looking at buying a 16 possible or little newer or buying an ole 7.3

I’m a fleet mechanic, I work on all trucks from class 8 Macks to Ford Vans. IMO you should consider the 6.7 if you can check yes to almost of these boxes. Are towing over 15 k often, are getting a dually, the majority of your trips are longer than hour of run time between cooling off, do not do a lot of idling, you ate ok with. 300.00 oil change and fuel filter changes. You plan on trading before the 5/100 warranty is up. Ford designed the 7.3 gasoline engine for the majority of users that are towing and need a powerful engine ,but need the simplicity of a gas engine, need more payload than the diesel version can provide,or for fleet usage . I love the 6.7 but it’s best in the duallys that tow heavy.
I’m getting a code on my 6.7 2022 “P226C” I bought the OBD and it says I have a permanent code I did a diagnostics on it and it came up that one of the boost pressure control monitor is out. Do you know if it’s what’s causing the check engine light or is it something else
It needs a completely new fuel system/lines. My dad's was doing the same thing and that's what it took to fix it. About 8k total
You gotta make more videos
Just have this code on our 2016 F350 (within the last week).Truck only has 51K miles on it. How difficult is it to remove the DEF tank - we have a 6 3/4 bed, not a long bed.

It wasn’t too difficult. The tricky part is getting the plastic retainers off without breaking them. Soak everything in WD40 or PB Blaster and it will help a lot.

@@DanielJaegerFilms Thanks for the reply and for taking the time to publish all these videos. Finished the reductant tank heater job today. Truck back in working order. Appreciate your channel - Also own a 2001 7.3 Excursion (she's a baby at only 167K miles on the stock engine) - so have watched all your Excursion videos to!

@@DanielJaegerFilms Guess what came in the mail today? A letter from Ford Motor Company. Customer satisfaction Program 21M01. Basically, this program will increase the reductant heater and sender warranty coverage to a total of 11 years or 120,000 miles from the warranty start date, whichever occurs first. Of course....after we replaced it ourselves! Grrrr! The letter states "if you paid to have this service done before the date of this letter, you may be eligible for a refund." Hopefully Ford will at least reimburse us for the cost of the part, since we performed the repair ourselves. Just thought I'd share....

Some people say to delete. Problem with deleting is that it’s illegal in all of America. This can present serious issues for the customer. A LEO has the authority to punish you for it. It may not happen often, but it certainly can.

Especially if it's a DOT truck. Won't pass yearly inspections if deleted.
difficulty level on replacing this?

Actually not too bad, any mechanic or mechanically inclined individual should be able to do it. I had it done in about an hour.
I like the diesel trucks long lasting 12 miles to the gallon is pretty bad for a truck like this 16 to 17 is probably more like it maybe 18 idk nice truck though I like the long bed
Mine is doing the same thing, but my check engine light is not on.

@@salvadorarreola4729 Yes. I replaced my DEF heater and pump and it was doing the same thing. So looking further into it my exhaust was plugged. I took it down to my buddies place and did a manual generation test and blew all the crap out of my exhaust. I'm getting better fuel mileage and got my power back.

@@xboysfunfab473 What if the truck has straight pipe and def deleted
FYI You don’t need to do the repairs yourself. It’s called a customer satisfaction recall. Just got mine done through the dealer no charge. I used to clear my code every day because of the lack of power.

I agree with this but as I understand it, some of the emissions parts (like the def heater) are warranted for a mileage/age amount. At 210k + miles, this truck would have been out of the warranty period.
Less emissions is nice and all but god if they field tested these parts for 3 years. I wonder how much emissions they don't reduce because people cut them out as they're going broke repairing them. If they worked nobody would cut and less emissions. Did you have to remove the bed for this or just drop it like a fuel tank?
Another problem caused by all that emissions crap.
