You know what. I’m gonna run my 7.3 as long as I possibly can. Yeah it starts hard in the cold and it’s not as comfortable and quiet. But the thing just runs. And that’s all I need it to do.

You can fix that hard start. 7 degrees Christmas morning here north carolina. I don't drive my 2001 7.3very much anymore more but i wanted how she would crank. Turned the, wait to went out fired right up, no cycling the wait to start. Last year new glow plugs, new injector orings and shims, injector cups. My truck has 407000 miles on it and would drive it to California today, with no worries.

Thanks for all the great instructions over the years. I bought a 7.3 three years ago as an mechanical amateur novice. The previous owner probably had the problem with the wiring harness rubbing on the valve cover causing the whole thing to skip out, which I found and fixed thanks to you. Been an awesome truck and fun to learn with.

Thanks Bill for turning me on to Archoil, I've used in my 03 7.3 and now I use in my 2019 SD350 6.7, I use Archoil like clock work. Archoil is just piece of mind...

I had a issue which 3 different shops could not fix. Through watching your page with ty I really love your videos I made myself aware of the functionality of this engine. I'm not a mechanic but have turned wrenches since I was 12yrs old. Anyways I was getting the reduced power code only when using my truck to pull my fifthwheel camper. The truck does 80mph all day long as long as the road is flat. When going from Michigan to North Carolina in the mountains is where my issues began. Like I said after 3 shops and watching your videos I found the issue and had the 3rd shop replace the bad part. My truck on this rail preasure regulator was bad. It wasn't sealing and where my issues were derived in this whole conversation. After having this replaced I've driven this truck up 8% grades zero issues. Thanks for your videos I hope we can do business in the future.

I run Archoil in my truck and have been for about 8 years. I can tell the difference when it's not in the fuel from the sound/feel of the engine to the smell of the exhaust. Keep up the good work Bill and Mike

I've been following this channel for 10 years easily.. I grew up on a farm and I've been a self taught mechanic since I was a child pretty much. I've worked on just about everything that moves I've been a industrial and heavy equipment mechanic in steel mills to working on my race bikes.. These engines run so good and they tow even better, it’s just so hard to justify owning one because of how expensive and how complicated they are. They are also not end user friendly- even someone who is mechanically skilled will have a very tough time working on this engine. I will likely be in the market for a diesel pickup in the next year and I absolutely will not buy anything newer then a 7.3 if we are talking ford’s.

Caterpillar has done fuel trims for a long time. It's good to see other manufacturers doing it. It makes fueling more precise which of course is a necessity these days.

Good video Bill, I don't have a powerstroke but I have watched nearly all your videos starting with the 7.3 and they are very educational but have an 08 gmc duramax with improved emissions you know what I mean by that but you are correct about there's no lubricity in today's junk fuel that's why I use Howles fuel treatment every tank full and have had zero issues with my fuel injectors, fuel regulator or CP3 pump all of which are OEM and nearing 300k miles 👍🏿however I do run a lift pump and a Donaldson fuel filter on the engine

I had a lazy injector on my T-444E (IH 7.3), and got another 2 and a half years out of it by using archoil. . after 2 oil changes wit hthe oil additive and running the fuel additive, the injector was working every time! and ocntinued to do so till i noticed it just starting to get lazy again 40000 miles later.. im continuing to use archoil with my new injectors and new HPOP.. great product! it works!

That's what scares me about 6.7's and that price tag if and when this does occur. Welp, I'm staying with my 7.3!

Cat C-175 and 3500 are the same way. You have to upload the trim file from cat for each injector. Sure miss the “old” days of just swapping out a injector. Good info guys for sure.

I've never yet owned a powerstroke truck but i have discovered that the lessons bill shows apply to all diesel trucks and equipment ,,i started using archoil in all my diesel powered machines ,i have a diesel generator i was thinking might need new injectors because it was smoking and using excess fuel ,running it for a couple days with archoil in the fuel fixed the sticking injectors and it runs better than ever ,,i should say that this machine has an Ingersol rand designed Kubota diesel engine meant for a refrigeration unit ,,it just passed 28000 hours run time 55hp engine turning a 25KW generator

I have 2011 f250 6.7 with 310k miles on it , so far I replaced fan clutch , and at 300k replaced oil cooler , also coolent bridge gasket , also starter at 305k , total so far in parts repairs 1k ( did labor myself) Never had any turbo issues mentioned, p. S truck has been delited after warranty expired, so from 36k miles truck works outstanding , just do ur oil changes and flush ur radiators and change coolent , my oil cooler coolent ports got clogged from iron block iron flaked , so radiator fluids is a must to replace to protect from corrosion!!!!!

I run the fuel additive in my 2007 335i and it’s literally gold especially after this being my second set of injectors..

The 6.7 is a great running truck when it’s all squared away, but I’ll stick to my 7.3 cause it does what I need it to do. Less parts for me to worry about.

$12K to have a Calif. dealer fix. Fuel pump Grenade at 100K. Dealer had no idea how to properly fix, Luckily I did my research (that's when I found & started following you and Mikey) I made sure they replaced all the parts. That is a major strike against Ford...fix the high pressure fuel pump. Ford knows it is an issue all they did was make and sell a kit to fix your truck after the pump fails. Thanks for the great info.

I got a 2020 f250 6.7 and have been doing Archoil since the beginning living on the road already have 80k pulling 10k lb trailer no problems yet.

Arch oil really does work, I finally got two friends turned onto it. My friends 2018 Dodge Cummins bone stock was getting 10mpg now he gets 12-14 after running arch oil. It truly is good stuff and actually works! Thanks for another great video

I run a 2012, 472K on original engine and transmission. Full delete, non VGT upgrade at about 250K.

Is the same problem where you get the computer shutting off the low pressure pump during driving, and then needing to stop and shift into park and restart the truck because it thinks there’s a fuel leak present on the 6.4 model as well? In other words is it one of the hangover problems from the 6.4 or is it a new problem introduced specifically with the 6.7?

My 2011 turbo failed 2 years ago, retrofitted a 17 turbo and she’s doing great. Is the fuel issue only linked to a DEF mistake or do they just turn loose in general

Change your ccv out as fast as you can when you get the truck. I’m at 200k and 20k hours on the motor not a drop from the oil pan. The ccv gets clogged and pressurizes the oil and pushes it out

big secret is that the stock injectors you have in your truck were built by CAT, HPOP too. I think its the 3126 Cat injectors that are the bigger injectors everyone sells out on the interweb.

Not sure if Cummins are more simple but seems like so many moving parts. Almost just bound to have problems.

I run 2 stroke oil for lubrication in the fuel. Every truck I have owned including two common rail engines, has had 2 stroke with good success.

Bill I know you said the customer has some type of fuel filter in between The pump in the rail . look like that would’ve saved it.

I’ve got a ‘97 obs 7.3 that I’ve owned since new. I’ve been using Diesel Kleen since it was new. Is the Archoil that much better or is the Diesel Kleen just as good?

The guys at Metro fuel injection (a big time reman diesel injector company) discouraged me from using diesel kleen as it lacks the lubricity the injectors need for smooth operation. Although it may do a decent job cleaning, prob not worth risking damage to the injectors. They recommended stanadyne products for regular use.

I have a 2012 with 280k and a 2017 with 170k miles with no dpf and still running strong

I think guys are crazy for pouring water in the DPF tank to save money on the DPF fluid. From my point of view I would much rather have a 7.3L dino that is much easier to deal with. I also like the body style of the older trucks. No mater what diesel truck you are running you need to keep up on the maintance and keep the injectors clean and fresh fluids are key to a long lasting truck.

My 2001 7.tree f2shity has over 820 thousand miles....not one leak on the truck.... still stroking and purrs like a kitten 😸... been driving it for 23 years now.....try that dodge or Chevy.....

Hopefully I didnt miss it but what was causing the restriction? Failed parts or dirt?

They are great engines, just be ready to spend 4K to reseal the bed plate haha…

So is it worth adding the CP4 prevention kit? Sounds like it still destroys everything anyways.

Yes you need a disaster prevention kit!! S&s makes the best one. It will not prevent the pump from failing… but it will contain the damage and protect the rest of the system

Moral of the story. Stick with a 12v mechanical or gasser. Got it.

Bill, have a special segment with Mike on all the problems he has seen with people playing around with there 6.7 motors.

I only see failures not success stories. Since I have seen several 6.7L pump failures with the saver kit installed and all the the rest of the injection damaged also, it is my opinion that the saver kit is not worth the time money and effort to install. The flip side of the coin is that Archoil ar6500 used regularly in your oil will make the HPFP last indefinitely so you don't need the kit to begin with.

@@powerstrokehelp well that’s good to know! I’ve got a 2015 F250 6.7 with 54k miles. I bought it in 2017 with 22k miles, second owner, and I’ve been using Archoil in EVERY tank of fuel and I use the oil additive idk, annually at minimum. I also sent an oil sample to Blackstone Labs at 41k miles and their analysis said everything looked good and had some higher levels because of the Archoil, but they were aware of it. I tell everyone to use Archoil. I’ve had no real issues aside from just replacing 1-1 and 1-2 egt sensors, and I’m having the shop do my PM sensor as I’m getting a dtc for that now, and the collar flats rusted out so needed a new bung, but those are consumables. Had increased mpg’s and less regens than I had the first few months I bought my truck since using Archoil. Also use the fuel cleaner annually as well. Only found it from your Chanel here, but it works!

Because some people are stupid. It's that simple. The DPF fill port is bright blue . It's hard to miss and it's well labelled.

Power-- Stroke trucks ain't cheap; right Mikey ? So use Hot Shot Secret, right Mikey ?

Glow plug broke in mine at 119k. Had to get a new motor. 2015 F350.

Had a night mare last night that I put gasoline in my 6.7 and ran it and Blew it up woke up and said thank god that was a dream😂

The pumps also fail because Ford, Dodge, and Chevrolet bought Bosch HP pumps that were not rated for ULSD

Crack... get off it.

These engines are so complicated and complex. The cost to repair them is insane. I bet over half of these on the road aren’t being used as they were designed to be used towing and hauling heavy.I’d run from this to get a new 7.3 gasser where a complete engine costs less than a DPF or a set of injectors on a 6.7.

I would have traded my 6.4L in years ago, but I can't get a 6.7L in a stick.

Those are Bill Hewitt's trucks not Pascal's. The trucks are cheap but the work done to them adds up. Instead of buying a cheap truck that needs everything done. Pascal and I sell cheap trucks with EVERYTHING done to them.

Too bad they decided to use the Bosch CP4/CP4.2 on an otherwise decent engine. $9 to12 k for new injectors, and other fuel system components all because of a known defective designed high pressure fuel pump (research it and see). The CP4 is the reason GM switched from a CP4 to a Denso HP4 high pressure pump on the 2017 to current L5P Duramax. RAM tried the CP4.2 on their 2019 and some early 2020 Cummins 6.7's and after major failures are now recalling them. GM is being sued over the CP4 used on the 2011 to 2016 LML Duramax. The roller cam followers on the CP4 are the issue and will fail over time regardless of fuel. I personally do believe that products like Archoil are absolutely worth using and might even prolong a CP4's life. The Bosch CP3 (used on the RAM) and Denso HP4 pumps are much better and do not suffer the same issues as the CP4 due to a completely different design. The CP4.2 is the major reason I did not purchase a 6.7 Powerstroke.

Unfortunately (2011 F450 6.7) experienced hpfp failure (Nov '21) from contaminated fuel (water) pumped 17g into 37 gal tank til full. This was later proven by state inspection. Station was ordered to stop selling fuel. You might think Exxon would take responsibility, they didn't! Leaving me with the cost of repairs. This is what happened: First line of defense, water sensor failed: "water in fuel" instrument panel light didn't come on! Apparently Ford water sensor not very sensitive and don't react fast enough to alert driver. Second line of defense, filter failed: water separator became saturated and allowed contaminated fuel to be bypassed! This Ford filter design doesn't stop fuel flow to engine when too much water becomes trapped in the water separator filter (mounted on frame). Apparently, FASS filters work differently by stopping fuel flow when saturated (clogged). They have no drain, only replacement. Ford doesn't recommend FASS filter system, voids warrenty! You know what happened next! Cost: TTL $11,706.05 includes a couple extras that were done as preventative. One year later, while having oil changed at Ford, my SA told me the cost of fuel system failure (Oct '22) increased to $17,000.00 mostly due to an increase in parts. An expensive lesson. Think I just paid for a master's degree in Ford diesel fuel systems! The frustrating thing is, that after paying for this very expensive repair, I still have the same problematic water sensor and fuel filter. Yes, I now pay more attention to where I buy fuel and change filters more often. There's still no way to monitor the filter condition like the air filter, which shows airflow resistance. Hope this helps someone avoid this budget buster repair!

Very sobering story. My ‘13 F-250 just passed 160K miles. With the exception of the DEF, it has been very reliable. I was wondering if anyone has recommended changing out the CP4 pump at certain intervals? Thanks.

I'm ignorant to the diesel and I'm always worried it's just a time bomb.. your theory and findings make total sense though for my problem. it had died as if someone pulled the plug on your vacuum at home. neutral to the roadside .. sit.. restart. go. where should i start making this 2011 dealer proof? "Help me Obi Wan Kenobi.. your my only hope!"

look at the trans cooling, its a mess.

I own two 7.3 L and I'm able to do anything and everything on them parts are still affordable the modifications I've done create pretty good horsepower she still looks good turns heads and I usually find myself in Friendly conversations at the gas station when people identify the 7.3. The 6.7 look great run great but I have no interest in them or th $80k to buy one.

Problem is the CP4 high-pressure fuel pump is problematic. From what I have been told is ford and gm use this pump. Cummins found out it was problematic early on and changed to the CP3 pump. Ford needs to change the pump and problem solved.

100% spot on. RAM actually used the CP4 on the 2019 and a few 2020 6.7 Cummins and now after many failures are recalling those trucks and installing CP3's. Ford 6.7 Powerstrokes cannot be retrofitted the CP3 is too large and will not fit.

My 1996 OBS F250 7.3L Powerstroke is worth it! I have one of these with only 133,000 miles on it! Jet Black '96 ext cab 4x4 5 speed 7.3l Powerstroke. U can see it on my channel, and subscribe to know when it's price tag is ready first!

Hope you don't mind me riding your coattails here Bill..but I wanna offer anyone in this thread the opportunity to own a solid rustfree Alabama State retired 2001 F350 4x4 Longbed Crewcab XL..super plainjane work truck..smooth automatic..7.3 with unheard of 74xxx actual miles..manual locking hubs..4x4 floor stick.. vinyl benches front &back..zero slack in the steering..runs like it's on rails at 90mph..no check engine lights..got a freon leak on the a/c..I got it about 3 yrs ago for medium sized camper needs..i sold the camper..no longer need this unit..$17k..

I'd rather buy one of your restored 6 Liter trucks with 200K on the odometer than a 6.7

My understanding is this was originally a cp4 failure, which is very common, and they didn’t replace EVERYTHING tryin to do it cheap and left the fuel rail and it was causing issues as it still had metal shavings in the rail.

Ford should just give up in the diesel game. The government needs to rethink this emissions bs tooo. It's stupid.
