    Good load. I would like to see H1000 knocking on the door of 3,000fps. But you can't complain with sub-moa groups. Thanks

    If you reach up with your left hand and pull the forearm down and back, your groups will improve dramatically, muzzle flip is killing your groups. I taught a retired Marine Sniper this technique and he was blown away. While inconvenient, shooting off of a front rest will also improve your groups, I have bipods also. The Atlas is one of the best bi-pods, but your accuracy requirements determine the technique and equipment used. Inexpensive Caldwell front rests are a group saver, make no mistake about it. Critique your video and see how much your forearm is moving. Benchrest shooters discovered decades ago that grabbing the rear bag with your left hand produced verticle in groups. You have to make shooting fun for you, it is only a hobby. I found that H1000 doubled the barrel life in my 264 Winchester, and I am sure that you will find the same in your PRC as the H1000 burns very cool and is rated one of the coolest burning powders along with N160 and N165. In order to extend barrel life, I shoot multiple three-shot groups, cooling the barrel inbetween the three shot groups by dousing a wash rag with 50/50 rubbing alcohol/water, rubbing the barrel with the wash rag, and you want enough of the solution on the wash rag till you see the liquid dripping off of the bottom of the barrel. You will be SHOCKED at how fast the barrel cools! I look forward to seeing your videos in the future! I can tell you that your choice of the H1000 will get you in the 1200-1400 rounds of barrel life, other wise with other powders you would have seen a 600-800 round barrel life!

    Nice video. I trialed h1000 behind 143eldx in vigin lapua. My velocities almost matched yours but with +30 fps. I had a node at 2898 for both 57.0 & 57.5 loads. I'll test this range soon. Went to 58.5 @ 2996 without signs. Perhaps you might want to explore 3/4gn higher to get a decent PRC boogie on without stressing out the rifle. Keep up the good videos.

    Nice shooting Rob, I have the 153 A tips and 156 EOL to load for my 6.5 PRC, Using either H1000 4350 and 4831 sc, looking forward to some warmer Alberta weather to get out on the range. I hope you have access to the "heavy for caliber" projectiles to see how the Bergara does. Keep up the testing.

    H1000 with once fired hornady brass pushes these over 3k. Im in agreement about saving rhe barrel, but push this out to 3k. Take a note of brass flow. Let the barrel reach a pressure equilibrium, copper equilibrium, and you will be happier with your s.d. from this powder bullet combo. 147's are stupid accurate pillz, and with the prc you should exploit this. Im running a savage 110 highcountry now. Had the bergara for a couple months and enjoyed its weight for bench rest and stationary shooting. With an arken sh4 gen2 it was a tank. Thanks for the video

    Berger data for the 6.5 PRC with the 156g EOL bullet and H1000 lists a max charge weight at 60g. I settled on 59.6g after my OCW tests and found it is not a compressed load. Therefore, your cases can't be anywhere close to full at the charge weight you selected and that is not conducive to low SDs.

    With the H1000 and ADG brass you should be able to work up to close to 3100 fps before you find pressure. At least work up to pressure and back off. You will fill more case volume, giving it a more consistent burn, giving you better es and sd and smaller groups.bow that the case is fire formed. If you bump back .002 or .003, you'll be adding more case volume, which will grow your es and sd.

    What's the point of a PRC if you are only getting Creedmoor speed? I get over 2800 fps speeds with 6.5 CM loads and great accuracy. That's with Hornady 140 gr Match bullets. I want 3000 fps or more for PRC.

    Why do you take the cold bore shots into account when you are trying to determe the accuracy potential of a load? I understand it if you want to know what the rifle does, but as far as load itself, I guess I don't understand.

  • @RobsReloading

    @RobsReloading

    When I shoot I often shoot a hand full of shots then break. Then again. I don't want a load with a big shift from cool to warm. It's just practical for me. I don't want to have to fire 2-3 shots to get a barrel up to temp before it will shoot. IMO that's a waste of components.

    Yup way slow, the pressure node for 147/153 is around 3000fps+ We run the 147 and 153 Atips at 3050 with RL powder. Its like owning a Ferrari, and driving down the highway at 50mph instead of 100+mph. But hey, if he likes it, he likes it. Wont matter much to him shooting at 100 yards. We see the benifits at 1760 yards where dispersion becomes an issue, and a s.d. of 18 will make you miss hits on target.

    Mid 28s with a 147 grain projectile is .270 Winchester territory. I agree, if you're going to shoot a magnum with a higher B C. you gotta get 3k plus.

    @@darrylpacholko5495 Hornady's factory loading with the 147gr ELD-M has a box velocity of 2910fps. We are not far from that here. Also don't have a range with 1000+ yards so 150fps really wont make that big of difference. Just harder on brass/barrel etc.

    @Rob's Reloading I would say that handloading gives a distinct advantage. Something I know that you are aware of. For me 3k is magic and is in excess of Factory which is generic to all rifles. This isn't a criticism, just an observation that contrasts the .270 and 6.5 PRC
