I visited ste hyacinthe this past Saturday for the first time in my life. Friendly people there.. many of whom say hello as you walk on by, and we were very impressed with the architecture. Some really really old houses and other buildings including that historic market at the end of your video. And art Deco style here and there. I never knew that this town was so nice! We stumbled on a free rock concert on the other side of that jean coutu building in their parking lot. About 300 people or so attended and the quebecois band played classic rock songs very well. All English songs, but atleast they ended with a french song. The main street, rue des Cascades was pedestrian only and we saw one SQ officer on duty next to that patrol grand caravan you saw. First time seeing that too.. I wonder if that'll spread to their fleet. I thought of you Elton at the end of the night when we were walking back to my car. We saw fire trucks up a street and a building with a huge fire raging from it. We ran up to the intersection and watched as the firemen just started to attack the intense flames from the top of their ladders. Was very dramatic.. and amazing to see how that much water sprayed onto it might as well have come from a garden hose.. 😂 We left 30 minutes later and the fire was still going. It was a ( 1920s?) apartment building at 1040 Ave Bourdages N. I doubt they'll be able to salvage it unfortunately. Spoke to some locals on the scene and they said lots of fires lately in town. I think the cordoned off building you passed was a recent victim of arson. The one I saw ablaze was probably arson too as it was in the news that it's believed to have started on a back balcony after midnight. Despite this, no cops were on the scene the whole time I was there. I guess that SQ officer was sleeping by then lol. Anyways, cool to see more of the town in your video. That area was definitely working class and reminded me of so many other small cities in Quebec. Cool econoline van too!

There was a dude in my old neighborhood, Pfds, that owned a BMR in the very early '80s... so they've been around at least 45 years...
