    Isn't the extension same in parallel? So why is x half for B?

    extension is divided on both springs so it will decrease to the half.

    extension must be same as the force applied for it to be K in parallel 0.5F/0.5 X will give us f/x which is K

    In Professor Lewin's video about elasticity, he had a really good explanation: to maintain in equilibrium, each spring has to exert a spring force that counteracts the tensile force applied. So that way the net force is zero, hence in parallel the forces on springs are shared
