I installed an S257 SXE in mine. I hated the VGT hiss, but now I get a badass rumble that sounds better than any Cummins :) It sounds especially great with a manual transmission.

I can impersonate the 6.0 roar so perfect now it’s awesome 🤣

Good motors all they need to be perfect are new water pump, egr cooler, and oil cooler and ur mostly good

7.05 is a proper running diesel. No need for all that smoke bullshit.

They sound so amazing. Always was told to stay away. Just recently found an f550 perfect spec I want for a work truck with a 6.0. But it’s been bulletproofed and has been maintained regularly. Truck looks brand new and it’s a decent price with 140k miles. After my brother had bad luck out of his 05 in 2008, I just fear it will always be in the back of my mind. If a truck has gaskets/studs, oil cooler, sinister EGR cooler, and a coolant filtration system, is there anything to be worried about?

I have a 550. Because they’ve been detuned they’re more reliable. Thats how they where designed to be. I think Ford tunes them a bit hard that’s why they blow studs n shit then people mod them out and beat on them and get mad when the engine can’t take it.

Change yours fluids and filters, do a blue spring upgrade, get a fuel pressure gauge, good set of batteries and alternator, you are good to go. Clean your grounds! They are good trucks in my opinion, been good to me. Good luck

Luis M Viera No real performance difference at all just whichever sounds better. All types of compilations online of each size. Bigger exhaust tip will give a different tone also.

They have their problems but it was the first diesel that was decently fast (still pretty quick in my opinion). People got them and beat on them because the were fast and sound good. Keep a tuner off of it, delete the EGR, and change your filters and it should serve you well.

jacob powers i have an 03 6.0 myself bought it for $10500 2 years ago it was bullet proofed studded and egr delete didnt have any issues till a month ago just payed 7k for a new headgasket bc im in love with that truck and wasnt willing to buy another one ended up getting new glowplugs, turbo, cylinder heads, pistons and injectors pretty much a full rebuild lol but in my mind nothing sounds better than a 6.0, period
