5x CrossFit Games Champion and Fittest Man On Earth: Mat Fraser | IKONICK Blank Canvas #22
At 19 years old Mat Fraser fractured his spine in two places while training for the U.S. Olympic Weightlifting team. Doctors told him that the most he could hope for in terms of athletic performance following the injury was a light jog. Fraser had other plans. Smash cut to today. The 2020 CrossFit Games champion now boasts five consecutive titles-the longest winning streak in the history of the sport-and holds the record for largest margin of victory, nearly doubling the points of the next runner up. On today's episode, we cover our experience seeing him train firsthand for his 2020 victory, and how he structures his life around the CrossFit Games. He also shares his advice around getting started in fitness, staying disciplined, and his mentality around competition.
The Mat Fraser Art Collection includes four powerful mantras he lives by. Lessons learned over a career of doing what others won’t: "You Win or You Learn," "Pressure is a Privilege," "Hard Work Pays Off," and "Pain is Temporary."

The fact that this dude is sitting next to the Fittest Man on Earth while slouching is pure gold.

Great interview! I see so much hate in the comments about the definition of “fittest”… sure, it’s by CrossFit Standards, but not many understand that this dude can do a full triathlon in the morning, do high skilled gymnastics in the afternoon, and then lift twice his body weight above his head in the evening. Sure, he’s not the best in the world at any of those things individually, but he’s the best at doing all those things against his peers also trying to be good at a multitude of skills.

So cool that the hunchback of notre dam is doing podcasts now
A lot of valuable information about how to become elite in anything not just CrossFit. The self talk, lifestyle changes, sacrifice, constant quest for better recovery and more efficient training. Having the “doing your homework” style workouts and then balls to the wall play to your strength and ego style workouts for confidence boosters and motivation and managing them also never staying comfortable and always working on a weakness. Man this is the stuff that you run across that drastically improves your training.
Mat is PURE INSPIRATION .
Really appreciated this interview. I've been watching Mat for years at the games. Absolutely killer mentality
I'm extremely inspired to sit up straight after this
I’m not huge into crossfit but I’m a huge fan of this bro. So impressive. Looking thick too. Kill in man, keep getting after it!

basics of speaking to a guest: ask a question and let the man answer. This guy close to the camera 'slouching so bad his shoulders are busy rubbing agaisnt his knees' should be told not to interrupt. you can see mat sigh a couple of times there....
One of the best interview i’ve ever listened.
while i’m not a super fit person, the little tips and tricks for a better life are really good in this. thank you.
Great interview, thanks!
Loved this!!
This guy inspires me to get up and workout, I mean look at that posture, I don't want to be like that ever!

Very in depth interview. I’ve followed Mat for a while and have never heard his training days and be this specific. I wonder if he’s hanging it up that’s why he divulging all this information. Only time will tell! Great pod. Also that dudes back is ridiculous haha

Great interview. Can’t believe I missed it before.
He dropped so much value in this🔥
Good interview. Really good.
Mat transcends his sport as an individual. He is not just the best ever in Crossfit, he is a supremely gifted athlete. He has that rare mindset and obsessive quality like Kobe Bryant and others. Guy is an inspiration.

Love Mat Fraser and now he is coaching women cross-fit champion.
Big interview
This interview was amazing !!! Finally found it However I can’t ignore that slouch like bro sit up straight and if you can’t get it checked out I’m not hating but it’s low key disrespectful being a host and having a guest on your show.

The way that dude sitting on the far left is giving me back pain lol
Imagine if he got up before 8am 😳
CrossFit's 'fitness' is a scientific, mathematically precise concept. And it is likely getting at some deep insights about the nature of "fitness." Don't hate until you understand.
left guy has a healthy posture
Don't forget Jason Medeiros !!
I do hope this man on the left sees this and never sits like that again. Lift the mic up Bro! Straighten your back... Look after yourself :/

Can we get a pillow or something for the guy on the left his back screaming
