Awesome video. Just bought a property with a newer 760hdx. Learning curve and figuring it out but what a cool piece of equipment. Love your wood shed and setup. This spring summer will be my project to build firewood sheds for 12-15 cords to feed my boiler.

That is a very impressive set up! I hope you have some type of fire extinguisher or hydrant close by, if that mountain of fuel caught fire, they would see it from the space station!

@@timberterra If at some point, your Homeowners Insurance stops by; a visible fire extinguisher indicates good housekeeping & being prepared. Former auto/home ins. agent.

Smart setup. I would recomend to burn off the creosote with 1/4 to 1/2 load of small branches, twigs. This will burn fast and hot and clean the boiler. It's also a fire hazard if the chimney catches fire. I do this once a year to clean my boiler, my neighbour does it to clean his chimney.

Nice setup. Are you using some type of antifreeze in your system? Cleaning hack: Hook the wire brush to a saws all. Also in my wood shed I put a long sheet of metal roofing over the loading door area and pitched it towards the outside to direct the smoke away from the ceiling joists and out of the shed

I do not have anti-freeze. If the boiler shuts down or I'm not using it in cold weather for some reason, the back-up oil boiler will keep the OWB warm via the heat exchanger. Not the most efficient method, but almost never happens - and so far not taken a long enough winter vacation to matter. A couple great ideas. Thanks for those!

10:15 Its counter intuitive, but stainless corrosion occurs in low oxygen environments. I recently learned this in marine applications - may or may not be why cleanup is advised, and might be worth looking for signs of pitting.

Interesting. Thanks for that. I have been adding "ashtrol", a powder the manufacturer recommends to reduce "acid" in the firebox. When I used to scrape the firebox creosote off each week, it was glazed over again within a day, so I didn't think the effort was worth it.

Strongly suggest a rotation plan for the 'permanent' stack walls to reduce pest infestations and decomposition wasting of the wood.

I do monitor that wood for signs of rot. Those tiers are off the ground and under cover. I do keep grass and weeds from growing beside them as well. But certainly a valid point. Thanks!

If you put ashtrol in with the wood the creasult will flake off the sides of your fire box

Thanks for sharing! That answers my question about the semi-permanent wood cord walls on the sides. That fulfills two jobs indeed. The spotlight toward the inside of the combustion chamber is something I miss. I have plenty of light everywhere, except in that location! I need a cart to bring the logs to the front! From my very short experience (month or so..) with my new boiler, I also disconnect the pump while not using the garage (I have the same setup. one pump for the house, one for the garage). It seems it draws a good amount of heat, would that be for the extra 350 ft of underground piping and/or the presence of exposed pipes inside the garage. I've found the heating coil itself inside the furnace provides enough heat to keep the garage well above freezing point without even turning on the fan. This is pointless in my case to heat, as the garage will naturally drop to near freezing point, never below. Thanks!

How come you don’t push the brush up into chimney base (T) those openings need cleaning also

I do push the brush up beyond the top of the heat exchanger channels. It is the first stroke or two. But in this shot it is just above the field of view. I get a fair amount of ash that falls from there, so you are right. That can bridge over and block the passages if not cleaned.

I wouldn't scratch too hard considering it's a central boiler,they are not famous for using thick metal. It's lovely when mid winter it springs a water leak(3 times now) and all you get offered by the company is the cost of a patch of metal,no labour.personally I'm never buying or advising a central boiler ever again.

You don't care about the buildup on inside of chimney?

I do put some where I grow asparagus, because they do better in alkaline soil. But the rest of my garden I add sulfur to keep the pH lower. Ash would raise it.

@@timberterra it seems that when I use the ash in my garden my blooms come on strong and robust and I have big fruit I just have noticed .
