5TH GRADE TEACHER DAYS IN MY LIFE || cooped-up insanity

Welcome back to my 5th grade classroom! Here are a few days in my life as a 5th grade teacher. My 5th graders have been a little chatty and restless, as we've had a lot of indoor recess. I'm glad you're here to experience this with me! :)

What you might want to do is ask the students how much time they need in class to complete a specific assignment. Set up a timer and if all of them finish before the time expires, then reward them for getting their work completed. You could also give verbal praise to the students who are allowing the class and your lessons to flow smoothly. I have been teaching at the elementary level for 29 years, and fifth graders in the second half of the year try to become too big for their britches. They need to understand that they are in charge of their learning and that their choices will affect their success. Hang in there and take care.

Thank you! I will keep trying these ideas. It’s good to know this is something that happens to all of them. I just need to adjust my expectations.
