iop erty he said it in their rolling stone interview, which was a total disaster in every single way. He also said it in a magazine about his drumming. He basically said once that women only follow them for their looks and that they wanted more male fans in the fandom to appreciate the music. He said this a few years ago when they were trying to establish their “pop punk” stance in the music industry, but I think they’ve grown since then, but it was definitely annoying to hear for a while.

He has koratoconus (idk how to spell), hereditary eye problem that makes his eyes extremely sensitive to light (he can't even watch tv) and he also progressively loses sight, but can undergo surgery on each eye to stop it (but not to make it better), and he already did at least one, and eye becomes even more sensitive to light for a month or two after that. So maybe that's why. Source: he posted about it on twitter
