    In 1998 for my 16th birthday my grandparents bought me a 4mm 20 inch gold chain. It magically disappeared about 10 years ago (my then wife probably pawned it) Been considering getting another chain maybe 5mm this time.

    My personal experience after debating on either a 5 or 6 millimeter rope recently is I chose to go with a 5mm. I wanted something that I could rock daily without being to over the top yet still bold. As viewers may know, the diameter of ropes increase significantly with each added millimeter. I didn't want that "to big to be real" appearance. I went with a 5mm 22 inch for an all the time chain. My next will be an on occasion 7mm 24 inch to two chain it with. ✌

  • @FromADistanceJewelry

    @FromADistanceJewelry

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hey bro! I'm so happy you are finding value in the channel! 🙏 As far as that stack personally off the top of my head I feel like at the same length while it might look like a lot of gold overall you'll likely have the rope scuffing up that mariner (especially if the mariner has a mirror finish on it) pretty good most of the time. Not that it's too much of a problem but I think a better option might be a chain that's a little less flat. That's just my personal thoughts though. I'll try to get a video on that soon! All in all the stack itself will probably look great, I just think a less flat chain might do a little better.

    @@trainingwolves7 thank you so much for the kind words and support, I'm so grateful for this wonderful comment! You made my day! 🙏 In regards to your question I do believe that a 5.5 mm flat curb would do much better with the Mariner. As far as the white gold goes, if you wear one yellow and one white (assuming we're talking at the same length) each chain will be appreciated as an individual. I personally think it would look great. Keep in mind though that if you pair white and yellow you're going to look like you have less gold on your neck because of the two different colors. If you want to look like you have a large amount of gold (to give the illusion of fatter millimeters) I would stick to one color. Hope this helps bro!

    @@FromADistanceJewelry I’m glad that brightened your day. You deserve all the nice comments, man. That makes so much sense, bro! I’ll go with the yellow 5.5mm flat curb to stack with the 7mm yellow Mariner at the same length. Thank you for your valuable insight! Would you be concerned about the 7mm Mariner wearing down the 5.5mm flat curb, since the Mariner is quite a bit heavier?

  • @FromADistanceJewelry

    @FromADistanceJewelry

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@trainingwolves7 I honestly don't think I'd be worried about it. Even with the other setup I think you would have been ok but the thing I was thinking about was the mirror finish that I've seen on mariners. Usually that scuffs pretty easily. And there's a few different types of mariners out there, some have a large mirrored area on them. But with the flat curb I wouldn't worry as much because it's not really a high polish piece with mirror finish.

  • @FromADistanceJewelry

    @FromADistanceJewelry

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hey brother!! One of the reasons why you might see people having pendants on smaller width means is because the chains are pretty expensive and the larger you go with the chain the larger you will have to go with the pendant. All that stuff adds up! Personally I would keep a 5 mm as a solitaire but there's definitely nothing saying that you can't add a pendant to it if that's what your style is! Hope this helps!
