I agree with much of what he says. Especially the part where he says we need to focus on helping black Americans gain the skills necessary for the future. Speaking as one, I also understand what he means about being neither a Republican nor a Democrat... Both sides have some elements correct, but both also miss the mark. Do not patronize people by saying "you can't do it, so we'll lower the standards". That will forever leave one wondering if you actually deserve what you have worked for. Instead, we ought to focus on stressing the importance of education and two-parent households. Additionally, we need to focus on creating a sense of community where children find support from many people who can help them thrive.

I have agreements and disagreements with many of his beliefs. I do not know much about Loury but based on this interview i have ascertained that his beliefs are genuine. He's the most raw and honest person you have interviewed. We are all bad people it's just some are better at hiding it than others. Just because you do not or did not abide by your own beliefs does not mean that truth exists. We cannot deny reality because it solves our cognitive dissonance. Make changes or deal with guilt and shame. The past is the past.

The professor is always a good listen.

This episode should be titled 'Confessions of a Black Clown'.

I think maybe his perspective is perhaps somewhat anecdotal. He has a drug conviction, but still has opportunities that allow him to be solidly middle class. But it's questionable whether that's true for every black or brown man with that disadvantage.

With DEI failures now exposed, these views will likely be more popular.

You are "inclined to agree" or disagree? Are you a journalist or an activist? If a journalist, you ought not to be inclined one way or the other. It's the difference between one who writes a journal and one who writes their own diary.

I'm a liberal, and I agree with almost everything he advocates for. Except for the trans bit, why is it anyone's business??

It’s nobody’s business. But the trans make it into a business. When they insist biological male can compete in female sports or saying things like there’s no difference between men and women, they are making it every one’s business. I am all for people’s self expression and I am happy to support anyone’s right to express. But when you intruding onto other people’s domain because of your own pursuit of happiness, other people will have a reaction.

​@hanh3000 what evidence do you have that the majority of those who are trying to push for these things and make dissent socially unacceptable Trans themselves?? That could be the case, but it seems just as likely that most of the crazy activists aren't themselves trannies.

I gave this clown a chance, but I can't finish this podcast. Between 2008-2018, white-on-white crime was 84% while black-on-black crime was 93% not that big a difference.
