Don't you just love the way the 58 accelerated quicker than the HST! Miss driving these superb locos. Withdrawn far to soon, & for no reason whatsoever other than politics within the rail industry. But, here we are in 2021, & 30 locos 'might' be heading back home!

Ah fond memories of when I worked at Staveley Chemicals. Barrow Hill shed not far away. The line from "The Old Road" ran past the works and onto Markham Pit, Bolsover Pit , Coalite, Seymour Sidings, Oxcroft Washery and the line through Clowne onto Creswell. (This line also at one time served the works with the "Summit Sidings" (Lifted and outcropped ) This was the main hangout for Bones

Phwoar! Never seen a 58 working before so that noise was a nice surprise! Mind you I also enjoyed, as an HST man, the 'proper' HST action too, a nice throwback to my early days on the scene :-D

Very nice! I'm a recent convert to the 58s and I'm glad I am, they sound marvellous. Nearly as good as that Valenta roar! ;)

My word. That HST sounded good but the 58 wasn't too shabby either.

A splendid video of one of these sadly departed locomotives. Would you have any objection if I were to use fragments of the audio from this and other of your videos as sound effects in a free, open-source non-commercial computer game called Simutrans under the Artistic Licence 1.0? This clip is particularly useful, as it is a good, clean recording of a class 58 pulling away from a stand. I should happily credit you, of course. opensource.org/licenses/Artistic-1.0
