MOSFET Tester / How To Test Mosfet Without Multimeter / MOSFET test Circuit. in this test circuit i installed a 47uf 50V capacitor at mosfet gate, the capacitor receives the supply voltage from the push button, when this capacitor is charged and the push switch is released, then it enables and gate of the mosfet and mosfet allows current flow from its channel from source to gate, 4
meanwhile the capacitor is discharged from a 10K resistor which is connected in parallel of the capacitor.
an LED is connected at mosfet drain using a 1K ohm series resistor
mosfet source is connected to the ground terminal. i used to check n channel mosfet.

    best regards yes optocoupler is working similar to a mechanical relay (one side LED simulates the relay coil. if a relay's coil is damaged the relay will not work & the output transistor behaves like the mechanical contacts of the relay, it will bad the next circuit will not respond ideally)

    if mosfet have leakage in the channel, it will turn ON the LED as the the leaky channel have leakage above 10mA, to check P channel mosfet, we have to reverse Voltage polarity, LED and the capacitor connections

    I think the 10k resister is discharging the gate rather than the LED…..I stand to be corrected however😅

    Sorry sir, the question is not about the uploaded video. I am troubleshooting a smps which pwm IC capacitor is 50v but it can only charge close to 1v. At the output am getting 1v as well.. I remember you did a video on how we can troubleshoot smps which pwm ic's capacitor have no charge. I replaced some diodes, capacitor, transistor, MOSFET which shorted. Can you refer me to videos that can help

    welcome dear if the PWM ic's VCC capacitor is getting only 1 volt, that means there is some abnormality in circuit might be VCC capacitor is bad might be something wrong the output stage most common possibility is RCD snubber circuit (diode, resistor & capacitor connected between the mosfet drain and the main dc capacitor's +ve terminal. in parallel to the smps transformer's primary winding)

    a leakey mosfet will dtected on the LED, the LED will glow if the leakage is above 5 mAmp

    yes we can make arrangement, we can apply power. i attached this capacitor to just demonstrate the gate delayed discharging, otherwise we can connect just one resistor that will discharge the gate and mosfet will turn off

    use 220K 1/2 watt resistor and connect test probes. insulate this resistor in some small box connect test probes to the capacitor, it will discharge safely
