{559} How To Calculate Switching Frequency for UC3842 / 3843 /3844 /3845 Oscillator Frequency
Ғылым және технология
{559} How To Calculate Switching Frequency for UC3842 / 3843 /3844 /3845 Oscillator Frequency The UC3842 / 3843 / 3844 / 3845 oscillator can be programmed by selecting timing capacitor CT and timing resistor RT. CT is charged from VREF (5V) through the timing resistor RT, and discharged by an internal current source. The first step in selecting the oscillator components is to determine the required circuit dead-time. Then to pinpoint selection of the nearest standard value of CT for a given dead-time. Next, the appropriate RT value is interpolated using the parameters for CT and oscillator frequency. RT/CT combinations versus oscillator frequency can be adjusted by the selection chart provided in the datasheet. The timing resistor can be calculated from the following formula.
Fosc (kHz) = 1.72 / (RT (k) × CT (pf))
3842 & 3842 will provide the same switching frequency which is programmed at RT/CT pin (pin number 4) but The 3844 and 3845 have an internal divide-by-two flip-flop driven by the oscillator for a 50% maximum duty cycle. Therefore, the output switching frequency will half than the oscillator frequency at pin number 4 of the IC. The UC3842 and UC3843 oscillator runs AT the switching frequency. Each oscillator of the UC3842/3/4/5 family can be used to a maximum of 500 kHz.

Thanks you for this. It pays to have a notebook nearby. So much to remember. I'm curious about the RT and CT formulas being the same for all chips or how close they are to this one. I assume that the half frequency is for push pull topography. I always love your videos. I would like to see you do a video on the L5991 (DAP002) IC like used in a Sony Playstation 2.

no it is a family of current mode smps controllers. designer can use any option. either CCM, DCM operations. basically these four ICs are used to drive unipolar magnet (flybacks, buck converters, boost converters)

hello sir I have some question it is about the GM 4pin Ignition Module my car also uses pick up coil snd E Core Ignition Coil the power source for my car is aperantly positive linear voltage regulator or relay. So that 4Pin GM Ignition Module uses the MC 3334 ic chip the exact lay out for that Ignition Module Chip can by found on Google. So can you please take a look a tell my what Im missing? I need some how to programe that thing or interupt the freqency rate some how because my car does not have retarding mechanism so its hard to start it in winter time so thats why I try to coppy this circuet or modifi it to do that task. So basicali its the question how are 555 timer ic chip frequency controled ? Or advancing or retarding frequency on demand is it posibel? If not culd the pick up by modified or ignition coil? Im not profesional electritian I surched long and culd not finde disruptive circuet or altering frequency device . So I hoppe some one has ideas how to force that thing to retard spark or pick up signal some how? Also I wuld like to know what ells culd by used to programe pick up coil signal to run 1 or more high power darlington transistors?
What is the testing diagram

thank you, sir, I was waiting for this video for a long time, Sir, you are using a black color resistor, may I know why you have used the special type resistor. you could use a normal 1/4watt resistor. what is the general use of it?
@HaseebElectronics
2 жыл бұрын
thanks a lot. yes in routine we can use a commercially available resistors with tolerance. but i always to try use fix resistors with 0.1% tolerance to obtan exact results. for normal use we can use 5% tolerance resistors

Sorry sir but this video is not match with actual calculation of frequency because frequency select according to flux density of core
@HaseebElectronics
2 жыл бұрын
yes brother. first we have to select core, then topology then flux setting by required frequency is selected then winding calculation then on that frequency you have to select dead-time (to move on CCM or DCM mode) and then select capacitor value then adjust RT value for the required frequency
@HarpreetSingh-nl1li
2 жыл бұрын
@@HaseebElectronics yes sir but another issue in ur comment about CCM and DCM mode related to use 3842/3843 or 3844/3845 is when we use 3845 always work on DCM mode because it's output duty not above 50% and if we work on 3842 It's always work on CCM mode because it's output duty always more than 50% not less than 50%
@HaseebElectronics
2 жыл бұрын
@@HarpreetSingh-nl1li yes 3844 & 3845 provide 50% max because it's built in flip flop toggles and divides the oscillator frequency so the output frequency is half of the Fosc.

3842 and 3843 can be programmed in ccm by limiting the current sense feedback
