    Hello Mike - Thanks for the explicite details about mounting the LS swap in your 55 chevy truck. I have the exact senario! Watching you go through the process was extremely helpful. The part about cuttiing the mount to allow space for the steering rod made it all worthwile. well done!

    Thanks, that’s reassuring. I often struggle with deciding if I should continue with as much dialogue, or shut up and just show more “doing”. I appreciate you watching! Thanks for the comment too.

    Hey Mike . I just finished welding in my heidts crossmember in my 45 chev and assorted MII parts and I wanna set my engine/tranny in place and weld in my engine mounts while truck cab is still in place so I can place engine where it needs to be then I’ll remove cab and continue boxing frame and install my new rear diff and rear suspension. I have frame on jack stands with a slight rake 1.5 degrees . I’m just wandering if I can leave frame as is on jack stands and set my sbc with carb at 3 degrees and weld in my motor mounts ? I’m not sure where my final ride height or actual rake will be as front and rear suspension arent in place yet so just not sure how that will effect my engine angle after truck is all back together . Thx

    So just make sure your frame is dead level, then set your engine between 1-2° angled back. The only other thing to consider is oil pan clearance to your M2 crossmember or it causes some other issues - I actually show that in my most recent video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/gnxns9h-Yc3FeNY.html

    I’m new to the LS swap world and I just came in possession of a 1955 step side. The 3 speed Grenaded and broke the block so I wanted to LS swap it and I’ve been struggling with trying to figure out what type of transmission to go in it. I was thinking a 700R4 but what’s your opinion? Engine will be a Turbo’d 6.0. Not looking to race, just a head turner.

    Hey! Being new to the LS world, I would find out what vehicle your engine came out of, and pair it with THAT transmission. If it was a truck engine, depending upon the year, good chance it came with either a 4L80, 6L80, or 6L90. The reason I say this is because of ease of the swap, wiring, ecu/pcm harnesses etc. whatever was bolted to it from the factory will be your easiest swap!

    @@intheshoptv I was wondering if that would be a good idea or not. The engine I was looking at is currently installed in an older 2012 2500 service truck, from a quick google search it seems to be a 6L90E transmission. You think this is a good combo or should I try for something like a 1500 that would have the 6L80?

  • @intheshoptv

    @intheshoptv

    @@nickcoots7669 I have a 6L80: kzread.info/dash/bejne/kZydyZtvd6rIm5s.html The 6L90 is a little beefier but you may want to consider changing the torque converter to an aftermarket billet unit. Also, you have a 2012 engine which is a GEN4. Is has VVT (which is nice for a cruiser) but is not compatible with aftermarket computer so that reaffirms that you definitely want to stay with the matched transmission (6L90) and have your ecm/pcm flashed to both units.

    Stock chassis, modified with mustang 2 suspension in the front, 4-link in the rear, step notched. Every step of the entire build is on my channel if you are interested in checking it out
