So I live over here on Vashon Island, right next to Seattle. Just bought a 1979 Deere 410. It had been sitting for 12 years out in the blackberry bushes. Paid the guy $600.00 scrap steel price for it. Put a new battery, starter, and numerous hydraulic hoses. Started RIGHT up, but yup, stuck in reverse. All the transmission gears work fine. The property was sold so I had to get it it home, so this morning I drove it 5 miles backwards....LOL No problem. So I need to look into my reverser also. Thanks for the video.

That’s a hell of a good price to buy it for tho! Take a video of yours if ya can I’d love to see more info about theses around, I haven’t had time to fix mine yet but hopefully will soon

I just recently went and talked with my local John Deere dealer and got some help and diagnostics print outs to test pressures on the reverser, soon as I have time I will get started on that and post it as I go

@@tdm8817 I been messing with mine all winter sometimes it works good and solid the next time it won't. changed oil cleaned the sump & filter which was clean as was the oil and not burnt so I'm thinking you and I are chasing the same bug. If I track it down I will drop you a line. And thank you

@@TexasCCRN if ya look thru my other videos I have a bunch on this reverser, I never ended up testing pressures just pulled the reverser out and went thru it but pressures should be 175 psi

I have a 1995 315d model and on the instrument panel, same as yours, the Converter oil temperature indication comes on after about 30min - 1 hr of driving. I looked in the manual and it says nothing except reduce load, run engine slow idle and inspect for plugged oil cooler. Question, I have no idea what the converter oil temp is or connected to... is this part of the reverser/gear box/ engine etc, I have no idea as nothing says in manual or trouble shoot or anything like that. Cannot find info on YT either.....Any ideas guys

The converter is in the reverser, try dropping to a lower transmission gear, that should help keep the reverser cooler. Assuming you’ve already checked the basics like cooler being plugged, pinched hose and oil level/condition?

@@tdm8817 New to it all, converter in the reverser, great news as now I look at that area...Ive checked the oil lvls etc and it looks ok, I am using 2nd gear all the time as moving slow, walking speed around the farm...not looked at it being plugged, pinch hose etc, but now I know were it is, I can start to investigate it... When you say plugged, you referring to it being blocked with some dirt old oil etc first, maybe a empty the old oil and add new...

@@andyalways8081 I’d definitely change the oil and drop the pan and check the screen in the pickup and in my opinion only use John Deere oil, it’s barely any more expensive and the reverser only takes a few quarts. Yea make shure the coolers don’t have 15lb of grass in there and that the fan is moving air like it should thru it

I'm having the same issue with my dad so we are trying to figure out he had the forward reverser rebuilt and we put on a new FNR lever and it still didn't change it. Did you ever end up figuring out what it was?

On mine it was something internal in the reverser, we ended up pulling the reverser and put a new parts kit in it, bearings seals and clutches and now It works great. When we disassembled the reverser we dint find anything that was all that damaged tho.

check the column switch mine was bad

Did you find a solution? did you ever check the FnR lever inside? I believe the spring contacts can lose their ability to contact and thus no signal is sent… I say this as the solenoid makes no sound when put in forward.

I did check the fnr lever and the rest of the wiring too. I ended up pulling the reverser and replacing seals, bearings and clutches. The machine runs great now and obviously I'm happy about that but it was frustrating that there was no obvious problem in the reverser. A bit of wear on some of the clutches and a few hardend o rings but I was expecting to see a seal blow clean out or something.

Does this machine share hydraulic fluid with transmission and hydraulics? Wondering if I need hydraulic/transmission fluid specifically in hydraulic reservoir .

On the 310D the hydraulic, reverser and transmission are all separate but they all take john Deere hy-gard

Can u add hydraulic oil to the transmission on tracgor310j
