I think you are the king of segmentation. It's all in the angles #360. Super one once again, Tony.

Hi Mr Jingle, I was born in Hartlepool, however I’ve lived in Northallerton for the last 26 years. I worked in Mbro, and I visit on a regular basis as I’m in a woodturning club there (well before Covid) I’ve over 100 video’s so please enjoy.

Hi Tony your video's are great to watch and learn from. The salt idea is very good. I'm very new to segment turning and struggling with how to arrive at segment length, but, I will get there. I notice when your tightening your Jubilee ring that you use something attached with you drill. Ive tried to find info but no success. What did you use and where can I obtain one. Thank you. Norman
Thanks for the salt tip Tony, must give it a go. Ron in Chesterfield

Ron Alcock it brilliant mate. I can assure you it doesn’t affect the strength of the glue. Tony
Tony - superb video and explanations! I'm only left with one question. I understand marking the ring middles so the Sepele staggers. What I don't understand is how one can make sure the subsequent rings, as one gets larger rings, are centered on the rings. The rotation can be identified by your shown method, but how do I make sure the rings are centered relative to the smaller ring as I increase in the size of the bowl?
Hi Tony, I have watched a few videos on segmenting, as it's something I am going to have a go at. This video explained the process so perfectly. Thanks, Huw

Thanks Huw. I think you will find it easier than you think. If you get stuck. Then give me a shout. Enjoy. Tony
👍
Very good video thank, I do have one question for you. The strips for in between the main segments, is there any particular reason for choosing to cut the strips cross grain ? Ripping a long strip on a table saw or bandsaw would have been possible. Was your reason to expose side grain on the outer side ? or was there another reason ?
Very helpful video. What is the plastic angle thingy you used (you said it came from a local art supplier) ?
@tonymeadley6578
2 жыл бұрын
Hi Phill that determines the angle of the segments and number of cement per ring.
how did you make your 12 sided pieces (width) to account for the thickness of the sapele to make the circle?
Hi tony Great video could you tell me where you get your oak from I live in manchester is it anyway near All the best John

mag smethurst hi John I buy my wood from Hartlepool. I think it’s about two hours away mate. Tony
Where do you get the segment angle from
Hi can you please tell me where I can buy the fixed plastic ,angle finders
@tonymeadley8444
4 жыл бұрын
Hi Frank I guess you are talking about the white plastic angle that fits into the sled that determines how many segments? If you are then I buy mine from Jerry Bennett website. Search on google jerry bennett products. Tony
"A thousands of an inch out and by the time you fit 24 segments it'll be a millimetre out", (approx 40 thou). In engineering it's called cumulative error. The bigger it gets, the larger the error.
