Just to remind myself how efficient snow removal machines are, I often grab a shovel. Within 5 minutes I’m justified on what it costs to have it at my disposal. Thanks for the close ups on the first stage. Awesome footage.

I never realized how incredibly handy that back blade compliments the snowblower. I have been using a big block of paraffin wax inside my 47" blower mounted to my Deere X739, lasts much longer than any spray. It's easier to do in the summer when everything is warm, getting it ready for winter. During winter, I just heat the end of the big bar of wax up a bit, and glide it all around the inner blower housing and on the auger blades. After a while it takes on dirt, etc. and doesn't look "clean" in there, but that heavy wet snow just wipes right off. It also helps prevent rust. Maybe add that to the list of sprays you are going to test out? Nice video as always!

We get snow like that about once every five years or so...sigh...I'm dreaming of it now...😉❄️🤤 As to your snow packing, maybe carry a "spud wrench" in your toolbox? It's a handy tool to have...not only an adjustable wrench but also a good alignment tool for stubborn 3 Pt attachments. And as a big ice pick! 😉

I sometimes wait for the snow to “dry out “ usually with lower over night temperatures if I can!

💥 I’m having great success with ceramic spray on Turtle Wax and also Fluid Film. I’ve never seen an auger so compacted with snow. As you and I know, snow has infinite varying consistencies. *Keep on tractoring!* 😁👍

Andrew from Eastonmade put me on to your channel when he announced the splitter contest and I have binge watched every single episode from the beginning and have liked every episode. Just another thing we'll need to thank Andrew for. I've had a Kubota BX2200 for just about 22 years now and beside yard maintenance have and plowing 1200 ft of private road & my driveway, I have used it moving wood for firewood. I heat my house primarily with a woodstove but am considering an outdoor boiler. I have purchased and installed the wood prosizer to my Stihl MS290 chainsaw based on seeing it on your channel. I am still in the testing phase, but really enjoying it so far. I charged up the pro-sizer before I installed it. It has gone at least a month, using close to a gallon of fuel for my saw and still waiting for the need to recharge the pro-sizer battery. I was born and raised in southwestern Ontario, now living in Michigan, so watching your channel brings me back. I appreciate your content. Keep up the great work.

That little tractor worked well in the snow....about the size that I have at the camp but I don`t go there in the wintertime.....Yours is a very nice machine and you probably get satisfaction moving all the snow with ease...Everything that eliminates physical strain has a cost....well done....CHEERS

The b2650 and the LX model are the best small compacts you can own. Love my b2650 cab. Darn thing blows snow like you wouldn't believe.

That was a really wet snow, just what the lakes and forests needed. Makes it more work to maintain but you managed it pretty good, Thanks for sharing with us , stay safe up there. Fred.

I use slip plate paint - works great on my Kubota blower attachment. Their motto is slippery when dry.

GP, it's pretty much all melted down here, most of the snow that was plowed that didn't make the ditches , now causing the runoff, the gravel is sinking, and the mud is pumping! But, It is what it is! Spose to have freezing temperatures by the weekend! Hopefully the road will dry up before that. Stay Safe!

@@richardmeyer7018 For me thats fine because i use my loader for firewood in the winter.. so i use a snow pusher and have a blower on the back.. It wouldn't work for everyone

good video Gord that is a very nice machine I ever had a front blower except for the walk behind our 2 tractors have rear blowers and the older I get the harder it is to turn around and watch the blower it bothers my neck my stepson has a 1/4 mile driveway and the other night he got his truck off in the ditch I went to give him a hand and pulled him out no problem with his tractor but I didn't take a chance turning on the driveway so I backed all the way down when I got home I had to take a aleve felt like a knife in neck I am getting old thanks for the video buddy enjoy your coffee and tell Bobby and Guy hi take care

You need an M series. That’s what I got and I never bog down.

Used Mop n Glow floor wax years ago. It's cheap, easy and it works on blowers, blades and dump boxes.

GP the cheepest ting I found that works is any cooking oil in a spray can

Maybe run the blower have the thickness of the snow and let the rear blade blow off the bottom half . No more bogging down.

Nice job, Gord. If you had wet snow like that more often, you might be in need of another (bigger) tractor upgrade :)

The best coating I've seen is an auto body "ceramic" coating. Everything else wears off soo fast it's irrelevant. Thanks.

Another great video Gord! Where I live the snow is called Sierra Cement and to date my LX2970 blower has done great, no clogging.

Hi GP! I hate heavy wet snow because the blower always gets plugged up at some point! I've tried different spays including silicone, wax and Fluid Film. None of them has been a cure all which is why I usually end up using the plow for that type of snow. The last storm gave us 5' drifts with 2'-3' covering most of the yard and driveway. Of course the 5' drifts covered the fronts of two cars parked in the driveway. 😖 It was easy to clear the driveway with the blower on the tractor but I had a hard time cutting paths with the walk behind blower while going through areas the tractor had blown the snow into. The blown snow became hard packed while the snow under it was light and fluffy. I couldn't believe how hard packed the blown snow became! Cheers from MA!

I watch the weather report. When I see a lot of snow coming I can be out every 4 hours snow blowing. I have a Tractor, why not. Even during the night , every 4 hours if I'm getting a lot of snow.

@@GPOutdoors You have to remember ,, I only use my Tractor to snow blow. I have no land flat enough to run the Tractor on. So in the winter I enjoy getting out and snow blow. My neighbors all say I brought a very expensive snow blower. I laugh at them when I see them snow blowing with a Kubota BX no heated cab.

In alaska we paint our buckets with an oil based paint.

It’s times like this that I wish I would’ve opted for the BX2380 instead of the BX1880. I try to keep my RPMs up above 2500 most times. Sometimes I have to go pretty slow. Glad my driveway isn’t a km long. 2 days ago one of my hydraulic hoses right behind the rear right tire blew open and spewed out my hydraulic fluid all over my driveway. It was a $220 repair to get my dealer to pick it up and replace the hose and refill the fluid. It’s only 3 years old and has around 80 hrs on it. I hope this isn’t a common occurrence! I keep it in a warm garage and it is never out in the elements unless I’m using it.

2500 rpm is! 540 or within that when you got it set at 540 on your rear PTO push the button to look at the engine RPM to see where you're at better than 2400

I have same tractor minus the cab. Love it. I have heard Neil from messics explain the foot pedal. He said think of them as gears and little petal is low gear and all the way down would be higher gear. Hope this makes sense.

How's she goin'? The heavy packing snow sure does clog up the blower. I'm not sure a Teflon spray or even the Carnauba Wax I used on my blade would help in these conditions. Nice job an a good explanation about managing the RPM's to get the most efficiency from the blower. That is important. Thanks for sharing and take care!!!

@@GPOutdoors So far Gord, I have only waxed the blade once and used the plow about 6 times and some of those times the snow was heavy and wet with an ice layer on top. The wax is holding up well. I was surprised.

I'm waiting for Courtney's results too. I'm also wondering how often those sprays need to be reapplied. Great video GP! 😁👨‍🚒

If the snow is packy (AKA snowman quality) i just spray a little WD40 and away you go. If it is light or dry snow you need nothing.

You may of had a log afternoon, but you were smiling all the time...lol

I got nothing for ya on the wet packing type snow GP...but you did good with the explanation of slowing the ground speed with an increase on blower load... Essentially you are lessening the load on one end to give it to the other end. There's only so much capacity available, so doing what you are doing is the most efficient use of the fluid's power and at the same time minimizing abuse to the tractor as a whole. (Tried sneaking it in again, didn't ya...) LOL. Caught you though !! (-:

For the speed part i do the same with a normal blower i let the blower do all the work i dont force the snow into it cause when u force it (go to fast) thats when stuff brakes so wether its a normal blower or a tractor one always let the blower do the work and never force it to do more than it should if it bogs down alot and almost dies all the time ur going to fast with it

Hello GP! Nice to see you have some snow. Nice discussion on RPM's and snow blowing. I think your information is true be it snow blowing or mowing. Keeping the RPM's in the operating range is vital for the tractor's health. Light fluffy snow is a joy to move. Heavy wet slush snow is a pain and is when the white will ice up and clog. Hmmm. I wonder if that has to do with Bernoulli's theory and low pressure. Glad to see you are feeling well.

If u would turn ur chute in line with ur impeller it would get rid if the snow easier WD-40 on all snow blowing surfaces helps

5:33 I have a green one, but the design is like yours, even if mine is rear PTO mount. I just had a snow like yours in Saint John, NB this morning. Not much to do with the auger, but the way the inside of the box is all full of snow, this tells me that this is the shape that the inside of the box should be for maximum efficiency. My previous walk behind blower, and the one I had on my ride on had a curved back that was similar to the shape of the auger. There was much less room for snow to be caught behind the auger. I find it's a silly design to have a box with a small shelf at the bottom to stop the snow from falling. If I had the skills and tools, I'd make a curved piece that start from the cutting edge and goes up behind the auger.

Morning GP from Wales. When blowing snow why do you blow across the road and not to the right hand side, surely some snow is blowing down on to the path you have cleared previously. Great to watch as always

Hey good morning Trevor. Most likely I wasn't thinking (LOL), or because of strong opposing winds. Often down the driveway it is because of the winds - the driveway winds and turns through the woods, so the wind hits me from different sides as I go through. Thanks for tuning in from Wales!

I was surprised to see that the auger packed up like that. Blowing with a rear mount is a pain, i am trying to decide between a mid PTO and a tractor that can mount a backhoe in an L series. Happy day GP !

This is a nice tutorial for new tractor snow blower operators as well as a good refresher for others with experience. Do you use cruise of speed control when using your blower? Morning Steve! That's a great question - I have never used it - I think because the driveway is hilly and the depth of snow changes so much, I don't think I could use it. what are your thoughts on the LX3310 getting discontinued? And being replaced with the LX3520?

Doesn't have your tractor an automatic speed adjustment? It's sometimes called working gear, where you set a specific speed and if there engine drops in RPM it will lower the speed automatically until the engine RPM is again at the set RPM.

Great video and information Gord. I have been taking care of that wet stuff here too, 15". I was wondering if you had enough room at the end of your drive on the left side going out to blow 10'-15' beside the road? I do that so when the plow trucks come by most of what they are plowing goes in there and not in the mouth of the driveway. Wifey get ugly when she has got to spin to get out of the driveway lol. I have been using a spray wax on the blower to help keep things from building up. Thanks again for making quality videos. Cheers 😀

With the limited k-connect options, would it make sense to go with a hydraulic loader mount unit and a PTO mount hydraulic power unit? I know you lose your blade out back, but it would allow you to run any quick attach units, which would allow you to share the implements with a skid steer if you ever expand your fleet.. I love the k-connect system, but from the looks of it, there are only three attachments for it, so it seems rather limited.. Thoughts?

I have been looking for a set of rear chains like the ones you have on your Kubota. Please identify chain manufacturer and model.

Any benefit of running front tire chains for extra steering control. I see sometimes that you are trying to steer and the front tires are slipping.

Morning Matthew. I have thought about it a few times , and also about maybe getting studs but just not sure yet. Yes for sure on some corners I sometimes have to lift the blower out of float to get traction and then I drop it down again. I am not sure why but I am very hesitant about the fronts. @@GPOutdoors My dad used to use front wheel weights on our lawn tractor (wheel horse) to aid with steering with a snowblower. They bolted to the inside of the wheel. Don't know if this would help or not. You may want to ask the viewers.

have you ever driven up to the cabin and not bin able to drive up your driveway?if so do you walk in?

Hey Gord. How's the glove comparison going? Here on the east coast this year I'm either blowing snow at -18 or pushing slush at +5. I haven't found a glove that can keep my hands both dry and warm. Closest I've come is a pair of electric 3-finger goatskin mitts but the batteries only last 2-3 hrs. Looking forward to the results of your testing. Cheers

Hi Gord, I am looking at the exact same tractor and blower as yours, can you comment on which 3rd function valve you have (kubota or Land Pride) and how it works. Did you have to add a ram to the blower to adjust the chute angle?

What sort of degree of slope can that rig go up?

Have you ever checked how much fuel/hr you machine takes when blowing snow? thx And I really like to se all your video always something to learn :)

So the Lx2610 is the B2650 rebranded?

Is the transmission still jerky? The whine sounds annoying ass hell. I’m considering making the jump from a b2601 to a lx2610 but I’m concerned about those two issues.

Morning. The transmission is much better now. I also found out there are adjustment springs to adjust the feel or engagement. The whine....welllllll...that's why I wear ear protection. LOL. Best of luck!

I have the LX3310 and the hydrostatic whine is really annoying. I wear hearing protection all of the time. My grand L was much quieter and a better option if you don’t need a mid mount mower.

So if I'm understanding this correctly, your mid PTO is around 2500 RPM, does that mean the blower is running at that same RPM or is there a gear reduction in the system that maintains a blower RPM of 540, or am I totally out to lunch on this? I have a 7 foot Frontier that I want to hook up to the front of my tractor and it's a 540 RPM rated for a 3 point hitch set up. So my question also is can you run these blowers over 540 RPM?

A week after covid I got where I wasn't breathing well, CT scan showed a large saddle bag blood clot spreading into both lungs, into the hospital I went for special IV procedure dripping clot busting blood thinning fluids directly into my lungs for 6 hours, an overnight stay there and home now for 2 weeks on blood thinner medication on a slow walk to recovery, but getting there, breathing almost normal again... Rest of the family is well, Thank You for asking!👍🙂❤️... I hope your's as well after covid too!
