Sammy: When I look at this, all I can say is one of the greatest rock 'n' roll bands of all time, and I'm so proud and honored to have been a part of it!! It's hard to believe we actually performed like that, night after night, for a decade!!!!
Mike: The mighty VH, laying it down in Tokyo, we were firing on all cylinders!!!🔥🔥

And I dare to say that it's also the best one from that era. It's just PERFECT. Amazing rhythm work by Eddie with some of his best riffs, of course the solo is out of this world too. And talkin about rhythm Alex is on fire, and live versions always sound twice as good. In this video you can hear Mike's simple yet powerful bass line, and damn he never loses a beat, even while singing harmonies. Sammy was on fire on the whole 5150 record, and was an amazing showman who filled Dave's shoes with no problems. I prefere the Live without a Net version, but this is pure gold too

Great video drop! In doing some comparisons today, this upload looks MUCH CLEANER than previous uploads of this concert. Also, this version has Sammy missing a few high notes compared to previous versions ( which is totally okay-it's LIVE and raw, like it should be ). Finally, Edward's guitar sound has way more " meat " to it in the mix. And, Mike's bass is more prominent as well ( especially during Ed's solo ). Makes me wonder just what is hiding in Sam's/Mike's/ Van Halen's vaults ( haha )!

Saw them in ‘82, then a couple of times after ‘86. With Dave, they gave a stunning performance, but in a two-dimensional way. We were the audience, they were the spectacle. With Sammy, it was three dimensional. No distance between the audience and the band, like a small club vibe while at the same time being the most enormous event. Sammy brought out a quality in every aspect of Van Halen that they could never have gotten with Dave. Would love to hear your thoughts.

I listened to Van Halen since I was a little kid in the early 1980s. Eddie inspired me to pick up a guitar. Sammy is the best singer they had, and Michael Anthony defined the VH vocal sound across all singers. I bought the 5150 tape when I was like 8 years old from a music store at the mall under the World Trade Center in NYC. I regretfully never got to see Van Halen live. Ever. I wish I could turn the clock back and actually go see at least one show from this timeframe. These were the best years. 5150 is my favorite album of theirs. MY FAVORITE ERA EVER OF VAN HALEN AKA VAN HAGAR! LOL. SAMMY IS A GOOD DUDE. COMPLETELY THE OPPOSITE OF DAVID LEE ROTH. AND THAT'S A GOOD THING. THE DUDE IS IN HIS 70'S AND STILL TO THIS DAY, HE'S STILL PERFORMING LIKE HE WAS WHEN HE WAS 30!! I'D LOVE TO EAT AT ONE OF HIS RESTAURANTS AND GO TO CABO WABO!!!

This was VH at their peak for sure. Sammy hitting those crazy high notes and all over the stage, Ed is fired up and smiling ear to ear 4:50 loving every note, Mikey moving around like he's in a bouncy-house and hitting that insane note at the the end 5:55, and the look on Alex's face 6:09 sums it up. Rock & Roll Synergy at its highest.

Wow, the Spectrum! Are you from Philly? Great memories between the concerts, to the Flyers and those great outdoor concerts next door at the JFK. Glad I'm old 'cause I got to be there and experience it all! (My favorite is still the Tower.)

I LOVED this version of VH. I saw multiple shows at the Centrum in Worcester MA. Off the charts!! The fun these guys were having wasn't faked as far as I could tell. Alex was just killing those drums and the energy was crazy. I'd give anything to see this live again..👍 When I heard that VH teamed up with Sammy, all I could think of was "Why didn't this happen sooner!"
