It’s not how far we have to go that’s important, but how far we have come. The skills I’ve learned will make the path forward much more deliberate.

Mark my words, when you get this thing in the water, you will be grinning from ear to ear. Nothing like it. I wish my Dad was still alive to see mine when I finished.

There will be some big smiles, but truth be told, like sitting in that chair looking at the profile at the end. I was smiling as big as a bakers wife. Thanks for the support. What’s the biggest obstacle to come?

@@Bigeaux20 paint and upholstery was my biggest concern but you’ve nailed the paint. My 16’ runabout had a closed bow. Your bow section, do the plans call for support underneath? Will it be walked on like a casting platform?

  • @Bigeaux20

Yes there will be walking all over the top of the boat, but there will also be supports under the deck to support that weight as well. I just have to finish my thoughts on how I lay out the hatches and such, but I will cover all that. I don’t foresee much custom upholstery outside of the rectangular seat on the front of the rear deck, and a set on the front of the console. I’ve seen them pull off very custom cushions and stuff, so that’s not a concern. My biggest obstacle right now is how to locate the drains, plumbing them, have the hoses available after I glue the floor down. I think i have it figured out, but I’m losing sleep on it. That and the live well drains. Appreciate it.

The only way out is through. Spent the last two full days trying to figure out wiring chases and plumbing layout. Didn’t drill the first hole or glue the first piece of pipe. So many puzzles to solve. It’s all part of figuring it out.

I appreciate the words. It's coming along. It's been very challenging working on the stuff below deck, but I think we have a plan to move it forward. When I say we, I am referring to me and my peanut brain. Let me ask you, and be honest, how can I make the videos better?

The fact that you deviated a bit from the line of the original sheer, is a good thing- the idea being its pleasing to you. I will say one thing, and that is stand WAY back from it and look before you're sure. Like at the neighbor's fence.

  • @Bigeaux20

I'm not sold that I deviated from the original sheer. Keep in mind, any original configuration was defined by factors suck as my accuracy in cutting from the templates, my ability to join pieces effectively and consistently, and whether pieces were tight when joined. Beyond that my ability to join the shear clamp to the hull side in a "fair" manner is laughable even for myself. The fact I installed it proud and planned to plane to fair was kind of always in the recipe. Now, let's just hope that when the top decking goes on, it's somewhat fair. I'll be good if it's close. I think it is, but we will see at some point. Always enjoy talking about stuff like this. Keep it coming.

Well it hasn’t been two years yet. July 4, 2022 I started cutting paper patterns. That’s three months from now so I hope to be much closer to finishing by then. But, yes time has flown by for sure. I’m hoping by the end of the year she’s floating. Think I will make it?
