Watched this video and very interesting. We have a 2009 Olympics high jump coin which I found in circulation 3 years ago. I am so glad that I have kept it. Also have one in the Blue Peter package which I bought on eBay for around £10, four years ago. The value seems to have increased in the past 2 years so definitely will hold onto it!

Love this video, it actually explains in detail which coins to look for and what to look - thank you - do you have a 20p videos? I have a 20p coin 2016 that has been (what I can only describe as) miss struck and is slightly off at the edges, its really hard to describe, at first I thought it had been flattened buy a machine but now I think its a mint error!

I have one of the Battle of Britain coins - with no date, I am sure it was taken from a set as it is in superb condition.

Never knew there were error 50ps!

Need to look out for these!

0:44 I’m so sad about that one. I had one in the till at work but left it because I already had an Olympic swimmer 50p coin not realising the one in the till was an error one. I’m still hoping it’ll make a circle back to the shop eventually (hopefully my boss didn’t pick it up and keep it or give it to a customer who spent it outside of my area). I’m sure it’s been in my shop twice now and customers sometimes spend their change a few weeks-months later. But at the time we only had a few 50p’s in the till so it was needed for change.

work In a shop, means I got 34 limited 50's all the standard one' s not the rare ones I don't think.

I got that rare 50p when I was young and kept it in a box looked at this vid and remembered and sold it thx

Tip for anyone into coin collecting: work in a shop! It makes my day when a customer gives me a rare coin. I put it to the side and at the end of my shift my boss allows me to have it as part of my wages. (Although it kills me when I leave rare coins not realising I haven’t collected them yet or they are error coins but I didn’t realise). I’m currently making my way through 50p’s which now roughly totals £30 worth of coins. I’ve began adding £2 coins but not so sure of their rarity (it scares me to check because I’ll kick myself later if I had them and let them go)

I’ve worked in a shop for the past 10 years and my best find to date are not 1 but 3 Kew Gardens , four £2 NI commonwealth games, and at least 6 Jemima puddleduck but with more people collecting now I’m finding it harder to find any decent coins so it makes it even more exciting when I do.

Just don't believe the idiots who say the edge lettering must be 'the right way up', it's all fantasy! Same about the 'dots'.

It was not an error coin (the swimmer) it was a change in design and only the original was sold in the RMint shop

I've got a few 2016 coins battle of Hastings ,Mrs tiggy-winkle,team gb swimming and got a 2010 celebrating hundred years of girl guides and 2011 table tennis and a 2006 vc i kept them cause not seen them before

Steve Harris Not for Steve Harris it's not. But for coin collectors it is, because it's a hobby. Some pay 50 quid for a video game, because it's their hobby, and to them it's worth it. I enjoy collecting coins, so it's worth it. And btw, you're also paying for brilliant uncirculated, so you get mint coins, and not ones which have been stuck down the crevis of someone's couch. You don't look at hobbies like an accountant, judging what's a bargain. You go into it because you enjoy it.

I understand it is pricey. But you also get the album for your coins to go into. When coin collecting, especially these, you aren't looking at the face value of the coin, it's not an investment like silver stacking or stacking gold. Over time a full album will surely be collectible. But it's about the coins themselves, and it might have a face value of £2.60, but is worth much more to the collectors over a period of time.

I have a 2016 50p coin depicting a swimmer and a small olympic symbol with team gb over the top. Any good?

I just found a 50p with 4 figures on and says 1918 representation of the people act. Was a nice find.

I have quite a few of these coins, 1x 100 years of girl guides 2010, team GB swimmer x2 2016, Archery London Olympics x1, 2x Peter Rabbit 2016, 2x 1066 Battle of Hastings, and lots of others including lots of £2 coins and one Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2014 Male cyclist and female runner. Just getting change back in York.

Good video didn't know about blue peter coin. The Olympic Games coin 2011 which must have been put in circulation is not rare or valuable then just the 2009 version? I have 2011 version.

You might get £1 - £2 on a 2011 maybe on ebay, but not really worth more than face value!

Bunc can happen now and then... probably as much chance as when NIFC's are found. I have had a few messages from people on other videos that have found NIFC's, I found a 2010 50p one in my change once! I have heard of a proof or two being found, but those occasions will be very very rare. I had a friend find a proof KEW coin in circulation, (the proof has two lines either side of kew on the reverse, where the circulating one does not) and I checked it for him, it was not a fake!

I had the battle of Britain one but I accidentally spent it 😭😭 but I do have the Olympic high jump one, I'll have to check it! UPDATE, it's 2011 😭😂

To me, all the olympic coins are special.... they all have a fairly low mintage. But what they are all worth I do not know. Try some coin groups on facebook, if they are worth anything then people always like to make offers!!
