5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe and 4965 Rood Ashton Hall take charge on The Cornishman 27.04.2013

So I find myself in the west country to see 'The Cornishman' excursion from Bristol Temple Meads to Plymouth and Return being hauled by not 1 but 2 GWR engines out of Tyseley in the form of no 4965 'Rood Ashton Hall' piloting no 5043 'Earl of Mount Edgcumbe'.
So for the first location I decided upon a new location for me but a very popular spot among other enthusiasts; Beambridge, to see the duo powering up Wellington Bank just round the corner from Whiteball Tunnel.
The next spot was risky due to the radio reports coming in of the M5 being snarled up from an accident earlier that morning. However this caused no such problems and I arrived in my next location of Teignmouth with plenty of time to spare. It was going to be Dawlish Seafront but my sat nav betrayed me so I settled for Teignmouth instead. And the Tyseley duo amble through at a leisurely pace ready for their assault on the South Devon banks.
So with 4 hours to kill I enjoyed what the Dawlish Seaside had to offer and set up on Langstone Rock for a panoramic of the Dawlish Coast. As the duo pass Dawlish, they pick the pace up a bit and round the curve towards Dawlish Warren. Then its a quick dash to the car and back off to a familiar location of Whiteball North Entrance. The duo must of done a very speedy water stop indeed as they were over 15 minutes early through Whiteball tunnel and I just about caught them hammering it down Wellington bank towards Taunton. I hope you enjoyed my video. Well worth the 3 hour drive down to the devonshire coast.

Thank you very much. I very nearly didn't get that shot! It caught me completely off guard. The pair weren't due through for another 15mins!
