The first quote is wrong. The two things he left behind are the Quran and the Ahlebait. He said this in front of thousands of people. But the enemies of Islam working from within, who were dead against the Prophet's family carrying on the torch of Islam after the Prophet, changed the 2nd thing from Ahlebait to sunnah. The Ahlebait are his family and descendants who embody religion and the truth, and are the true guides for mankind. This is precisely why Hazrat Imam Mehdi will be the Prophet's descendant.

Since the fact that he is even hearing this in the first place is because of the existence of Prophet's sunnah🤣. Besides, You can see the state of their mind that they don't even realize that Allah and both the Prophet (S. A. W) didn't pass the torch to anyone. Allah himself has took the liberty of preserving his word (which is both Quran and Sunnah) and as far as I am Mehdi goes. It could be interpreted as the Prophet (Saw) saying he is going to be from the Quraysh and not his direct bloodline. In either case... The Ahlebait wasnt what he said he left behind. He only ever stressed about leaving behind Islam.
