In my experience, Noctua's Redux fans have a particularly hummy sound profile, especially when they have something (like case rails) obstructing them from the front. I hope that once you get your fan testing system up and running, you can also do frequency analysis for fan noise so that specificities like that reach people for whom that might matter.

Noctua actually has committed to lifetime free brackets for many years, and they don't just send you brackets for new CPUs. If you bought a platform-specific cooler (such as the NH-L9i/NH-L9a) and swapped to another platform, you can also request a free bracket set. I bought the NH-L9i which is for 115x a few years ago and upgraded to AM4 this year, they sent me a set of brackets for free. It took a few weeks but can't complain over free stuff ;)

I have cycled through 1600, 2600, 3600 and now on a 5600X. The NH-C14 is still trucking along nicely. My 5600X only got a CTR silver rating since it was an early run from 2020. I have 2 CPU fans and 6 case fans on a full mesh front case (all 120mm, NR600 case). During long gaming sessions the hot spot temp never goes over 73C with my central air conditioner set to 23.9C (75F). My room does heat up when gaming for hours, so that's part of the 73C hot spot temp. I live in Florida the room doesn't have great airflow out. It's winter now and outside temp is 84F. Those temps are for a clean heatsink, gotta keep on top of the dust. The dust sticks easy to isopropyl dipped q-tips when I clean it. While adding a fan in push-pull configuration sounds reasonable (or at least could be studied) there is a caveat - IIRC Redux version lacks extra fan clips to mount a second fan. At that stage consumer is better off buying normal NH-U12S or better. Unless they have access to a metal workshop.

How do you set up the cooler to do the pressure mapping? Are you using a pressure sensitive film system with a "master die" with a known flatness and then digitizing it? What is the scale of the charts? It is interesting that you surmise that this is a mounting hardware issue and not a platen flatness issue? Could you alter the pressure pattern if you put more torque on the light side, or different shims underneath the mounting kit?

I have a box with older Noctua case fans that still work greats. Plus I have a couple of older coolers that are discontinued but are still quite usable. The last several I've bought have moved into new systems when I upgraded (currently is an NH-U12S which I bought gently used on eBay and saved at last $20). I like how they provide new mounting hardware if requested, or you can buy new mounting hardware off Amazon or Newegg for about $7.99 for either Intel or AMD CPUs. The mounting hardware has always been a selling point to me. One of the most straightforward, simple installations of any cooler I've used, you have to wonder why other vendors continue to make mounting an ordeal (I have noticed a few now using a similar mount). For me, Noctua coolers and fans worth paying extra!

I love the SP3 socket mounting system. Just use the supplied twisty tool which is set to the right torque, do 1, 2, 3 then line up the 4 holes on the cooler and crosswise tighten til the torque-tool thing clicks on each and DONE

I got a nh-15d and I'm really happy with it. I'm using headphones most of the time so the low hum when the fan speeds isn't noticeable. Keeps my r7 5800x at between 40 and 50-ish most of the time.
