    No matter the video, every time I watch, thinking ‘Ehh… I know this…’ I end up backing up or watching twice to see and learn something I had never heard of before. 👍🏽🥰 Thanks for teaching an old dog new tricks. 😎

    Helpful stuff, few people take the time to explore these kinds of features. I like to think of the modifier keys as: command - user/edit commands option - switches the command (zoom out vs zoom in e.g.) control - program controls (turn zoom on /off e.g.) shift - extend whatever is happening (zoom faster e.g.).

    One more useful tip: Option-click on any free space on the desktop hides the current program

  • @macmost

    @macmost

    Жыл бұрын

    Actually it hides the current app and reveals the window of the one you clicked on. So the "Desktop" is a Finder "window". But if you Option+click on another window or another app, then it brings that window to the front instead and hides the previous app.

    Click on what, specifically? If it is a menu item, the menu item has to be active just like before. If it is inactive (gray) then it just means that the action can't be performed because you don't have anything selected that the action can apply to.

    @@macmost f.ex. If i click on the wifi icon with option key nothing happens including if i open the wifi by clicking normally on the icon and i use the option key the netowrk settings option shows but clicking on it doesn't do anything, it is with all other options the same, menu's changes but clicking on it nothing happens. Now i'm thinking that something keeps the option key reserved...

    Didn't know, I'll experiment with option key. However, for now I use a Logitech Keyboard because nice ergonomic design. My Mac Mini kept saying doesn't recognize keyboard. Press key to immediately to right than left. But no response. Plug & played NO. It was annoying to to look it up. I guess Logitech is not QWERTY Keyboards. My response: Press the key to the left of the Shift key on the right side of the keyboard once. (It's ?/ if you are using an ANSI keyboard.) After doing so Mac says keyboard now configured. But is it? I pushed the option key twice but my mic did not respond. Gary I guess you use Apple Keyboard and all special keys work fine. I like my keyboard I hope I don't have to purchase an Apple. The trouble is Mac and Logitech could and should provide information about such keyboard configuration situations. I don't want to do unnecessary trouble shooting!!

    You should contact Logitech support. If you have one of their Mac keyboards, then it should work well. If not, then perhaps you didn't install their additional software or are missing something. Ask them for help.

    @@macmost Ohh I did. With or without should be plug & play. Keyboard had no manual or instructions. Like so many of such. contacting is a bit of vicious circle. My point plug & play it should be especially, with no manual or instructions. But I did install software and if I feel so inclined I might find where it's at and learn how to use it. Again not plug & play. It's not an AI keyboard, one I obtained at Costco. Thanks for your response Gary, but again should all be plug & play as advertised without much need to to tinker. There are too many matters to tinker about without tinkering with such that doesn't need to be.

    @@rickzabala6020 I agree. So maybe time to move on from this keyboard if it isn't working for you? Plenty of other choices. Or give the Apple keyboards a chance.

    Why does Mac has to be such a mystery?!? so people can't use windows anymore ??? I find it to be otherwise... I'm about to return to Windows as after all so many years of using computers and becoming skilled on computer use, now I'm like a kindergartener, wasting hours so that I can do something I could have done in 5 minutes in windows...!

    Half true, I bounce between both platforms. I LOVE a PC’s ability to copy keystrokes into a macro, so if you (random example) do anything frequently like formatting text files, data manipulation, importing and formatting data into a spreadsheet… a PC rocks. The benefit to Mac is the user interface and shortcuts stay consistent for all programs. Both have their benefits.

    @@Erin-Thor yes, I have been using word processors and photo editors... Mac has been driving me crazy because I can't even scroll page up & down using the shortcut keys like shift-tab etc... It's driving me crazy. Good to hear this but, had I not been hacked and still being hacked, I'd have never used Mac, especially if I knew this aspect to begin with. Honestly, Mac is safer than Windows but, they are still so capable of being hacked even with a lock down.
