it was crazy, absolutely amazing defence, but I think number 16 might even be better (Edwill van der Merwe), not the best angle of it in this video, but it is a similar situation, but an even harder position to stop the attacker from...who is almost above the try line...but he somehow manages to stop him, pull him back, and into touch...from behind him...insane defence!

Nothing horrific about the tackle on Hogg, an excellent try saver. As for some of the others, there's a pile of red cards out there, leading with the elbow/shoulder, no attempt to wrap the arms & late tackles. I wonder how many penalties were given out in the aftermath of some of these "tackles".

Many of these tackles are perfectly legal, but some are just A&E visits waiting to happen. When i was young, we were taught to tackle from the side and players were expected to run AROUND defenders, not through them. Nowadays, huge players run directly into each other and the commentators go crazy with excitement when someone is smashed, probably leading to long-term concussions. Its not surprising brain injuries are occurring, is it?

#2, #36, if the tackler hit the ball carrier in the head with their arm, elbow in that position, they'd be red carded in a nanosecond but time and time again you see the ball carrier deliberately hit the head of the tackler, and nothing happens.

This tends to demonstrate the different attitude which prevails in the southern hemisphere, where most of these tackles occurred. Many of these tackles were very dangerous. We didn’t get to see the referees’ decisions but, the worse the tackles got, the more the commentators seem to,enjoy them.
