now you might think there's just a video game going on here, but if we take the camera _outside_ of the game, you'll see there's a fully-modeled, highly-detailed _player_ of the game, and there's even a separate, fully-modeled world for that player!

Dunno if anyone answered your jargon board thing: TP# - Test points. They sit these boards on a "Bed of Nails" which is a board with little contact pogo pins to very rapidly test the system. Red/Black - Showing the operator where to solder the red and black leads for the speaker. KF-11/RU-94V-0 - Board printing number used internally by whatever PCB fabricator made this board. RGW-1 - Nintendo's revision number for the board design 3710 - Made the 37th week of 2010. The D likely references what type of display is compatible with this board, as nintendo may source those LCD screens from different vendors with individual tolerances that make them all a little different. The different numbers/letters markered on are done as quality assurance after each test phase. Think of them like checkpoints.

@shesez at 4:30, the "disorienting room" beyond the Mario Bros 3 throne room boundary is not an unused space, it's actually invalid memory that's not meant to represent level tiles. The renderer reads sections of 8 bit memory and interprets them as indices in a list of tiles regardless of what the data was actually meant to be. It could be information about what level you are on, how many lives you have, game logic or anything else on the cartridge. You can see this used in some speed runs of older games, e.g. in Pokemon 150 runs where they use item lists to scroll into invalid memory or some glitched super Metroid runs. In those cases you can actually modify game data by breaking into invalid memory and modifying it using game mechanics that change tiles values, thereby indirectly modifying the game data.

The weird wall of textures outside the throne room in SMB3 (at 4:25) is actually the code. The game doesn't have any more code written to account for Mario's location, so it starts trying to read the code that follows as what sprite to write on the screen. Most code in this era is written very simply to save space. So, for example, let's say a sprite for a piece of pillar might be named "2B". The game is told where in the code it needs to look for instructions on what sprite to display in a particular spot on the screen, based on Mario's location in the level. So it sees 2B needs to be in that spot, and puts the pillar piece there. But if you move Mario past that, he's in a location the game doesn't understand is incorrect, and you are going into parts of the code that aren't meant to be read as visual. So 2B might be a small part of the code that dictates what happens when you grab a star, or where a specific door warps you to. But the game doesn't know the difference so it just puts that pillar piece there instead. If you ever see this kind of graphical glitch in any games from this era something went wrong and you are literally seeing the code. So there you go lol

There are over 30 KZreadrs doing things similar to Boundary Break and almost half of them were doing it before Shesez did. The biggest one just celebrated her 1000th episode of out of bounds discoveries and has covered stuff from Kid Icarus to the new Spiderman. The biggest difference is she doesn't show just a few neat things; she shows every single thing that there is out of bounds. Shesez had a pathetic Skyrim episode and GTA 5 was nearly a waste of time. Her Skyrim video was 15 hours long and GTA 5 was almost 20 hours long. Shesez is honestly one of the worst out of bounds showcase channels. Other people do exactly what he does but show way more.

Also kind of funny it ended up being used for an SFM clip, given that I was unable to compile it with HDR on, so it's all fullbright in SFM. Anyways, It was cool to see the actual in-game NDC's skybox up close, though! If only I could have simulated it in my map without the Source Engine exploding in my face, haha.

@@ZyrusSmith "GTA 5 was nearly a waste of time" preceded "Her Skyrim video was 15 hours long". I'm sorry, but if you're watching 15-20 hour long videos, then you're wasting much more time than if you were to watch 10-40 minute long ones. Shesez's content is well put together even for the most disinterested person in the behind the scenes of video games, whereas the KZreadr you mentioned seems to target their content more towards the person who is interested to the utmost caliber in what's out of bounds in video games. Additionally, to say that "other people do exactly what he does but show way more" is to deny the fact that the showing of "a few neat things" is part of what makes Shesez's content appealing to the average viewer. People don't want to spend their entire weekend watching a single video of boring details; they want to spend a few minutes seeing the interesting ones.

Shesez, I've never really been into Nintendo and their games. So it's kinda hard to relate to most of your Boundary Break, however, I still watch them all. They're all still really interesting. Such a simple video idea just works so well. I myself have spent countless amounts of time noclipping in games just to see how it was all put together. So keep up all of the videos, they're awesome.

Loved the video! Can’t believe this series is 100 episodes old! I had an idea for a boundary break, it might be cool, but I know you do Nintendo games a lot. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has a lot of out of bounds stuff, especially in spec ops. I don’t play this game much, but my friend does, and I thought it would be cool you could maybe consider this as a boundary break episode, or possibly some of Call of Duty games, as they generally have fairly large maps.

2:00 QC for circuit boards was probably way less automated pre-1980's...human hands still handle each board for QC today at most if not all shops, but only for very quick visual checks....today its mostly electrical test machines probing the points across the circuits (they're fast too man its crazy...multiple electrodes jolting faster than you can see, while moving all across the board)
