They managed to make the pacific rim universe feel like a totally different franchise by adding superpowers and dumb shit like that. Not to mention the PPDC being totally wiped out makes the universe feel empty as fuck, the same thing 343 did by having the UNSC be somehow completely destroyed.

Imagine getting killed by a kaiju named "Mr. Turtle". What a way to go out.

As in Dr. Daisuke Serizawa, the Scientist who created the “Oxygen Destroyer” weapon in order to kill Godzilla, in which Godzilla left disastrous amounts of radioactive waste in his wake after an attack, as well as being the living embodiment of the Atomic Bombs that the U.S. dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki back in August of 1945 at the end of WWII, in the first Godzilla film in 1954? Surely that CANT be just a coincidence…

Back when I first heard that reference in the movie, I immediately wondered if they were trying to imply that Godzilla (1954 original Japanese premiere - 1956 USA release) was perhaps the very first Kaiju to arrive. Maybe as a Cat.1 scout? I may have assumed that their reference meant that they were blending their movie universe with that of the first Godzilla movie. Not, perhaps, the entire franchise. If this was the case, however. I wonder why there was never any mention of the oxygen destroyer device? It would have been the perfect weapon to use on Kaiju, after all. Providing it's use occurred in deep water, under the surface, of course. There would be a lot of destruction of sea life, but it couldn't be any worse for the environment than the nuclear missiles/bombs they've been using.

@@carldeithorn3450 well the funny thing is that Legendary Pictures has a pretty vital role in the Monsterverse at the moment, but about a year before the release of Godzilla 2014, their first major movie of the modern American kaiju genre was Pacific Rim, back in 2013. Interestingly enough, the First Kaiju attack that occurred was back in 2014 in San Francisco, with the intro to Pacific Rim showing the Kaiju known as "Trespasser" destroying the Golden Gate Bridge, with a similar to almost the exact same weather setting. A year later, Godzilla would appear in San Francisco, as well as destroying the Golden Gate Bridge as he went to confront the Male and Female MUTOs. And another cool easter egg could be seen if you were quick enough to read the PPDC's Kaiju database without having to pause the film and go back. Not only are there Kaiju specifically created for the Pacific Rim series, (which isnt tied in to the Monsterverse at all, sadly), but there are also several different Godzilla kaiju listed as well. The ones I can list off the top of my head are: Battra, Gigan, The MUTO, Baragon (Baragon's a bit tougher, however, but if I'm remembering correctly, i believe hes also a Toho Kaiju creation, and he has actually made a couple of Godzilla film appearances), and Varan. (At least i think varan was included) On a totally unrelated note, Clover (Initially debuting as a baby in the 2008 "Found Footage" film of the same name, then later on in 2021 we get to see what an adult Clover would look like in the film "The Cloverfield Paradox", and it it absolutely MASSIVE, quite possibly easily dwarfing Godzilla Earth, as Godzilla Earth Stands at a height of 300 meters, making him the largest incarnation of Godzilla as of today) was also featured in the Kaiju database. This database was featured in the lesser liked sequel to Pacific Rim, 2018's "Pacific Rim: Uprising".

Honestly the comparison between Raijin and a Tyrannosaurus Rex is fascinating. I've never really thought of it that way, but I can kind of see it

I love Pacific Rim (first film and NOT the sequel). If this alien race felt the earth did not have the right atmosphere way back when why didn’t they change it? I mean this is a species that can open up rifts, not only clone gigantic kaiju but also cage them… you would think they could think up a way to pollute the atmosphere in the millions of years between then and the present. To me it feels like lazy storytelling as to add a “green” message to the lore.

Idk why they made the second movie so bad. In the first movie they did a great job of giving you a feel of how heavy those things are. The Jäger were huge and massive and you could notice that, but in the scond movie the jäger were jumping around and doing acrobatics and whatever.

Exactly this! It irked me so bad! The excuse of "technology advancement" is just that - and excuse. Gravity should still be felt and, by far, the BEST thing about the Jaegers was how huge and heavy they felt. I don't understand why they felt the need to remove what made them so incredible

As a Pacific Rim and Transformers fan i always describe Uprising as Robots in Disguise. Pacific Rim was a masterpiece just like Tansformers Prime. If they just left it as it was instead of making sequels (Robots in Disguise and Uprising). The franchise wouldnt be ruined for me. Or maybe just MAYBE dont get rid of Guillermo Del Toro when making a Pacific Rim movie

The first Pacific Rim was GOLD. Was very dissatisfied with Uprising. Was an Ok movie as a Stand-Alone or Spin-off, but the first Pacific Rim was perfect and a sequel could’ve been made right if they hadn’t switched up writers and directors

Pacific Rim The Black was cool you get to see new Kaijus and Jaegers like Copperhead category 5, Breacher category 6, Kaiju eel category 2 to 3, Acidquill category 3, Bone Spur category 4? For the Jaegers Atlas Destroyer Mark 3 ,Hunter Vertigo Mark 4 Also you get to see some Jaegers like November Ajax, Titan Redeemer, Valor Omega, Horizon Brave and who could forget Strike Beserker and some Jaegers that didn't get introduce like Chaos Nemesis Mark 4 Edit: Forgot to say that is a series of an anime called Pacific Rim The Black two seasons and a Hybird Kaiju fights and a built in A.I in Atlas Destroyer Pilots of each Jaeger: Hunter Vetigo Pilots (Pilot 1: Ford Travis ) (Pilot 2: Brina Travis) Atlas Destroyer (Pilot 1: Taylor Travis) (Pilot 2: Hayley Travis) Some Jeager Pilots are not worth Mentioning and I suggest you watch it so you get no spoilers November Ajax, Titan Redeemer, Valor Omega and Horizon Brave are Destroyer by Multiple Kaiju Breed Leatherbacks, Slatterns and Mutevores The Breachs are opened on land Hunter Vertigo has a Nuclear Core to power the Jaeger While Atlas Destroyer Is a Electriced Powered one

Great video man! Your video showed me new things ive never seen before in the lore! I didnt know that some kaijus from the comics and novels were just simulation kaiju like Belobog 28:59, and i didnt know there was a new comic? Pacific Rim Blackout, that was a cool prequel comic to Pacific Rim The Black. And its nice that you mentioned Pacific Rim Training Day and Pacific Rim Shatterdome Strike, not many fans know about that! So thank you for that, now many fans will see that content too

“Kaiju” just means monsters, or more accurately “strange beasts”; “daikaiju” means “giant monsters”……..common mistake though since Japanese “Kaiju” films always depict huge monsters on the scale of Godzilla

Pacific Rim's kaiju aren't based on creatures from Japanese folklore, but from Japanese cinema. The word "kaiju" means "monster"; "Dai kaiju" means "big monster".

I feel like the kaiju would’ve been much less of a problem if humans had moved out of cities. Cities are huge targets and the tall buildings are easily destroyed. Underground bunkers probably would’ve been the best option, as they couldn’t be knocked over. Meanwhile humans could continue to work on weapons without rushing to avoid civilian casualties.

I kinda wish the second movie had followed the plot of the Netflix anime where a large part of Australia (or the world) was put at the brink of total destruction. A trilogy where they win the first war, lose the second and are redeemed in the 3rd would have been really good Btw, the anime is actually worth watching if anyone has Netflix. Are there any of these kinds of videos for Skull Island or the general Kaiju monster verse for Godzilla and King Kong? Which would include monster Island but that hasn't been established in those films to exist. Godzilla just lived in underwater tunnels that led to that sunken city which I'm guessing was either something like Atlantis or the lost continent of Mu, so he could closer feed on Earth's core's radiation.

Godzilla would probably wreck all of them because of his sheer size and ability to breathe plasma, as well as the fact that the Pacific Rim kaiju are vulnerable to nuclear weapons where Godzilla is strengthened by them. Though Godzilla may actually have a problem with Leatherback because EMPs apparently weaken his plasma breath.

These movies are okay but I think I would have liked them a whole lot better if they came out when I was a young kid.

the kaijus and jeagers were first seen in atlantic rims 1(on the east coast) atlantic rim 2 was about 5 years later then about 10-15 years later when they attacked again in the pacific rim,all thru the years up grading their jeagers to what they are in the pacific rim

pacific rim was such an amazing movie. I wish they made a sequel, at least we have the anime but it's not the same animated.
