I am making the transition from serious hobbyist to professional. I bought Profoto B10s and a B10 Plus and have been happy with them. I think I would like to add a B1X. If I need more power I can rent lights. For most things, though, the Profotos are great. They are well made, fast and consistent in their output. I bought them on the recommendation of Daniel Norton and Seth Miranda at Adorama. I have added two A1s for portability. Everything works together seamlessly.

Your experiences almost mirror mine. I bought two 800Ls and the 1200L Move in 2016. I use the 1200L alone about 60% of the time, the 800Ls alone about 20% of the time and both kits together about 20% of the time. I often work without an assistant, so the Move kit, combined with the MobiLed light heads are a must for outdoor work, where there is any kind of breeze or wind. The 800Ls simply pose too much of a fall risk when working outside. On the other hand, when you can place them securely, in an awkward, or distant locations, far away from the photographer, the 800Ls and the Bron Control app are amazing!! Man, I wish the Bron Control App was available for the 1200L! App aside, in my opinion the Move 1200L is the best battery powered pack on the planet! Nothing else comes close, not even a Profoto Pro-B4... which by the way, is no longer produced. When I compared the Siros L and Profoto B, the Brons were more powerful (in action, not just on paper) and they had a greater power adjustment range. The Profoto's TTL feature meant very little to me, because I never use TTL without adding some amount of exposure compensation. If I'm dialling in exposure compensation, then I'm effectively using the flashes manually... TTL negated!

@@EdAb The recessed flash tube on the b-series means the light doesn't fill larger modifiers as well, so there is a faster light fall off and uneven gradation of light. You'll get a hotspot in the middle of your softbox. On indirect modifiers like the para88 ,the modifier will not function as intended with a recessed flash tube. They're specifically designed for exposed flash tube units.

I'm currently shifting to Profoto B10, and A10 family. Using Elinchrom modifiers because I had a complete set. My Shift from Elinchrom to Profoto was more about the portability and reliability. Broncolor was a consideration but I work with others who also have Profoto Lights so it was the choice.

I found my dream strobe with PaulCBuff 'S Link. PaulCBuff always create strobe build like tanks. mainly I use White Lightning, old school but never had issues with them compare to other brand, they are really cheap for better spec. The link have a new Gel System with magnet , like you found on small speedlight, but now adapt to strobe. things to consider when buying paulCBuff: - only 1 place to buy them in europe and 1 place to buy them in the US - they have a proprietary mount J'ai trouvé mon bonheur avec le "Link" de PaulCBuff, PaulCBuff a toujours eu , selon moi, les strobes les plus solide du marché.

Godox for me, I'll be honest I don't feel I can afford the more expensive brands so I won't claim they're optimum but for on location work where you're just one gust of wind from losing a strobe, I feel I can take a risk with one of the godox strobes and walk away if it goes wrong. If I did that with a bronocolor strobe I'd be ruined

I would like to go back to Toulouse, did a whole lot of walking there, beautiful gardens, parks. The only light source I have is kaput at the moment the speedlite 430EXii. One of the battery contacts is slightly delaminated. Maybe something I can fix at some point. Seems like it is of poor material quality.

Nice work. Just wondering what you didn't like about the Elinchrom? The cords? I use them and I don't like that with multiple lights I lose the ability to adjust a light almost regularly. And it's a pain to get them to see the transmitter. That's with the whole ELB line. I also use Godox new lights and I've never had any issues with them. And I love having the options of small lights for kickers and large for large modifiers. That's why I didn't go with Broncolor. No small options.

I'm currently using and ELB 500 and 3 400's. They are occasionally a little fussy about triggering but who knows what might cause that. Sounds like the Siros also have a problem once in a while. The ELB 500 is a pretty good light for 500 Watts. It's much nicer and better quality than the 400's. I wish it had more power sometimes but they do make the ELB 1200. I'm considering upgrading to the Broncolor but it's going to have to wait a bit. My biggest complaint about the ELB400 & 500 is the small head which necessitates the adapter. It's not a great plan but I get the small heads can't handle large modifiers. The adapter however is pretty janky and I've had one where the stand screw pulled away from the center piece. Elinchrom support never responded. to my email about a replacement part.

This is an excellent video. But at the time of making this video, the Profoto B10 Plus (500 watt) was available at nearly half the size and weight. I have them. My only critique of them is the recessed bulb. So, it does not fill the entire modifier in the same way as the broncolor. The use of Para's is really not worth while with the Profoto. So, again, compromise os where we are all at as photographers.

Broncolor did very well jumping very early into the battery power monolight system well before the cheapy Chinese brands decided to get in there. I'm a Hensel Porty shooter personally and still waiting on the battery-powered 1000w monolights to come to the market already. Side note: Do you think the Siros lights not firing had to do with the orientation of the trigger? I know that having the trigger to the side reduces connectivity in other brands like Pocketwizard.

@@Hkvisuals I use a "Custom Brackets" L-bracket with a cold shoe + TTL, (The same as in this video kzread.info/dash/bejne/dKGfktx8ppOwZto.html ) And I make sure I keep the trigger facing upright so that I don't lose signal. Although I don't shoot nearly as much as you do, perhaps something of the sort may help. As I recall the recent Broncolor RFS 2.2 is a Godox (X1T) transceiver that was altered for Broncolor. Maybe that perhaps plays a part in the signal. Anywho, I hope that problem gets remedied soon for you. So that every shoot of yours goes as smooth as silk.

Hello, wonderful article. I am now thinking (again) in purchase a pair o Siros L. I test the Siros five years ago, with the move 1200, and I do like too but the weight was really an issue. I was shooting then with profoto B1, and I think it was too heavy... so imagine what I could think about the siros L. I shoot on street, dance, since june 2014, ¿Have you test the new B10plus? (from profoto), it has the size of a big lenses and fit into the backpack. I need a lightweight equipment, not bulky, and seasy to mount. I cannot drive and I move on train... so I must carry the equipment with my hands, so I had a rollerbag and a backpack. My modifiers are four umbrellas: the broncolor focus 110 (a parabollic one) for harsh and softharsh shades in full body and half body, a shallot 1,05 umbrella with a difuser, a 1,6 parabolic umbrella with diffuser (from lastolite) and a 1,5 shallow umbrella. Good video! I am glad I found it right now because I am considering buying 2 Broncolor 800L units. Right now I use 4 Hensel Integra 500 monolights and they are great. The only problems after about 10 years of using them were my fault. Stupid me dropped 2 of them! Looks like Hensel will (finally) release their 1000ws monolight in 2022 sometime. 18 inches and 12lbs and I don't really need 1000ws. I shoot architecture and very large rooms need a lot of light sometimes on a sunny day so 800ws would be perfect. I use 500 now and while that's ok power sometimes I need more. Anyway, regarding the Broncolor Siros800 L - Can they withstand daily bumping around in a car? I have read that the flash bulb pins can break very easily when bumping around. I keep my equipment very secure in padded cases etc... but I thought would ask you guys. What do you think? Are they rugged?
