5-Year Warranty! Hercules HCB61P 20V Brushless Grinder Review

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Harbor Freight will definitely create some good conversation in just about any room; some bad, some good. This new Hercules HCB61P 20V Brushless Grinder delivers features to compete with the more popular colors. While this Hercules 20V Brushless Grinder is sold as a bare tool, you can buy the batteries and chargers at pretty low prices to keep your whole kit price on the lower end. While this is not the most powerful grinder we've put our hands on, it's sure nothing to sneeze at. This is also covered by a 5-year warranty on the tool and 3-year warranty on any batteries purchased with it.

Just picked up this at harbor freight, bought the 5Ah battery and charger for $99 and got the grinder for free. I'm really impressed with this thing, smooth running and has a surprising amount of power

Thanks for a great and recent review on this tool. I’ve been looking at this tool and have only found older reviews. I dig it and all the new HF Hercules tools they are coming out with or revamping!

The 8 amp charger is $69. The $45 charger is the standard 4 amp charger.

Been using the slide switch since last august in an automotive kustom/fab shop with the 12ah and it’s been an absolute beast.

With the 12ah you CAN power through lmao, but if you catch it wrong it’ll still stop you from exploding a disc which is super nice.

Great idea and I like the title as well. One thing you could do and you started to that in theis vid, is to introduce a similar product and compare and contrast the way you did with the tekton handle. I'd take it a step further and put both tools on the table, especially if you're doing Japan vs USA, or even Vessel vs Wera, etc. It's good to see the pros and cons of a tool, but even better when you toss it up against a winner in your arsenal and would it displace your proven go-to. Great stuff!!

My only complaint is that you need to be able to buy a 7 inch guard because there are many times that I need a bigger cutoff wheel.

Would like to hear your opinion of the use and ergonomics of the Paddle Switch version versus the Slide Switch version; both Hercules 20v Brushless 5yr Warr. Particularly as, my understanding is that the Slide Switch version has a Lock On Feature, which is not a feature of the Paddle Switch version. Additionally, Harbor Freight is now running a $69 sale on the Slide Switch version, plus it is available in a $119 bundle with choice from another 6 Hercules producdts (one of which is the 8AH Battery).

I have and like the Hercules 5 year warranty product line . With that said ,there is an issue with no screens covering the air inlets to protect the motor from dust , debris and metal shavings . How they could not foresee not having screens and the warranty replacement problems this would cause . Because that is a manufacturing defect . Whether Harbor Freight will cover them or not could greatly impact customers opinions of the Hercules brand . I personally purchased from Amazon screens that are used in smokers pipes . For a pack of 100 I paid 4 bones . There are some videos on KZread that make it easier to take apart if mechanically inclined . Then cut to size , insert and apply a few drops of adhesive . Or they can be glue directly to the outside . Others may say the hell with it and use the warranty to to replace . How many times is not specified as far as I know . Hope this helps and maybe you can pass this information along to your viewers and Hercules representatives . I’m a retired older guy that likes the lower price without sacrificing quality for home improvement projects ….

I bought one recently, things I’ve found is that it’s heavy and awkward to use with one hand, the gearbox seems very noisy and it also seems to really suck the batteries down pretty quickly no matter which battery I use. I would really like to see a top mount for the handle for more options. They are handy though.

Repack the gear box with Lucas Red & Sticky grease. Will quiet it down, it will run cooler, and you will get a little bit better run time on the battery due to the lack of friction in the gear box. May help with less vibration also... Only takes about 10 minutes to do...

your wrong on saying the 4ah will have more power compared to the 5ah. 5ah 5s2p 18650 batteries will have a higher discharge rate than a 4ah 5s1p 21700 battery. Your typical 5ah power tool battery is made with 10 18650 cells. typically Samsung 25r cells which are rated at 20amps of continuous discharge power but since there are 2 sets the total power with be 40amps continuous. a typical 4ah 21700 cell power tool battery is made with 5 samsung 40t cells rated at 35amps on continuous discharge. only the 3ah 21700 cells made with the samsung 30t cells can compare with the power of the larger 5ah 25r cells.

You can’t kill those things. They go on sale for $9.99 frequently. I bet I’ve got a dozen of them with a different attachment on ea. Some of them are 15 years old. The harder and more frequent you use them, the longer they last. And I use them for things I wouldn’t dare use my “good” tools for. Only had one fail. Left it out in the rain overnight. Still lasted 3 months before it finally crapped out!

I have one of those. It's turning purple from being kept in a doorless open-air shed all its life. The DrillMaster right? -- Must saaay 09$ to 20$ usd for 11 years worth of service is not bad for a beater angle grinder. It has cut a LOT of hardiplank and concrete over the years

I don't think it's meant to displace Makita, Milwaukee, or DeWalt. But it's a great value proposition for a DIYr or someone needing an interim solution, or someone exploring a new need and not wanting to dive all the way in. The market needs entry level producers, not everyone needs the highest performer. I don't need to buy a backhoe want to shovel will do right?

brakes are for safety sissies with clumsy fingers, power is dependent on battery like every other manufacturer (most of which are made in same factory), form factor is the same as Milwaukee (and both carry 5 year warranty)
