Fantastic video, very knowledgeable gentleman and very clearly explained. Thank you both so much.
When playing in cooler weather in Canada I always carry a ball in a inner pocket keeping it warm which I will use whenever I can change the ball when allowed by winter rules and on the tee. Allowing me to hit a softer feeling ball for the next shot.

Such a good idea, a slightly warmer golf ball will perform so much better !
Very informative. Thank you.
Brilliant, these things are really useful to know, thank you!

Great referee and very insightful!
Our group usually rolls the ball up on a spot of grass for winter rules, been doing it for years and works fine.⛳⛳⛳
Gee that was very informative thanks so much
Great Info! Cheers
Great video, didn’t realise the one with puddles on my line 👍
Very good video. Didn't know most of those rules and I've been playing for 30 years! Doh!
Such an informative channel. The combination of numerous topics, plus that accent, has made this one of my all time favorites.

Yes he is great!
I would say that the heap of tree cuttings is an immovable obstruction, rather than ground under repair. An area of GUR is one defined by the committee. As an immovable obstruction, it still qualifies for free relief as an abnormal course condition (Rule 16), although there will of course be no defined drop zone.
Thanks for reviewing Winter Rules.. What about ball after the drive, burried in snow.or hail??? Do you get to brush the snow or hail away???? Love winter play...Like a box of cholates, never know what your going to get>>>>>

Oh My God so is her short game!
at 8:50. Is this correct? Hannah does not appear to be "excessive" in her stance. The R&A states "Any temporary accumulation of water on the surface of the ground (such as puddles from rain or irrigation or an overflow from a body of water) that: Is not in a penalty area, and Can be seen before or after the player takes a stance (without pressing down excessively with his or her feet). It is not enough for the ground to be merely wet, muddy or soft or for the water to be momentarily visible as the player steps on the ground; an accumulation of water must remain present either before or after the stance is taken."

He didn't give me relief as I had to press down excessively with my feet before water appeared.
Thanks for the info. Accumulated loose debris...... if the ball is close to debris but not in it, but swing is affected, i guess relief is still given?

Yes
just a quick question. if your nearest point of relief is a bunker fir playing from a wrong green do you drop it in the bunker or look for another nearest point of relief
@hannahholdenNCG
Жыл бұрын
Nearest point of relief has to be in the general area, the bunker isn’t in the general area so you would find somewhere else 👍🏼
And this is why I love links golf. Avoids most of these issues.
@hannahholdenNCG

Yes links golf is so much better to play in winter!
Very informative, thank you. I had a situation yesterday where my ball was in a steep bank with thick rough adjoining the green. The ball was buried. If I took a drop - two club lengths with a one shot penalty the nearest point of relief (no nearer the hole) would be on the green itself. Is this acceptable?
@bantoniplakantry9138
Жыл бұрын
For unplayable relief (one shot penalty) there is no nearest point of complete relief. It's just within two club-lengths, but it can't be nearer the hole. If that ends up being on the green, then that's fine.
With the water on the green ,what is the rules if the hole is within the water area ?
You can swap ball when on the fairway 🤯
Do the tree trimmings also come under the rule covering green keeper's work?
@hannahholdenNCG
Жыл бұрын
Yes 👍🏼
What's the ruling if you mark with a tee, drop, and the ball hits the tee? Common sense says no penalty and drop again but what's the right thing to do.
@hannahholdenNCG
Жыл бұрын
If the ball stays inside the club length and is no nearer the hole you are fine to just play it as it lies! But yes no penalty for hitting the tee
Are winter golf rules not in effect once spring starts? March 21st?
@hannahholdenNCG

Many are just rules brought in for the winter months some are all year round but more applicable in winter.
With a temporary green in use, if your ball is on the main green do you have to take relief. If you were to putt the ball eg over the apron to the temp green and therefore cause no damage to the main green would this be allowed? Thanks
@hannahholdenNCG

Hi! No you have to take relief so you can’t hit your shot from there even if you were putting

Very important rule in winter would be Abnormal course condition.
Certainly can't go wrong with six inches.
The only golf rule they do not enforce is no slow play. debating where a ball should be placed is slow play.
Rule 1 may you mark the ball spot with an object ?
@hannahholdenNCG

Yes as long as it is a artificial object, you can’t use something natural like a leaf or a twig for example.

No such thing as "Winter Rules" There's The Rules of ⛳️ golf Nowhere in the Rules does it mention "winter" in any aspect at all... The Rules of Golf do however mention "Local Rules"... You are talking about............... LOCAL RULES
