I was drafted into the Army during Vietnam. NOBODY failed basic training during that period, the Drill Sergeants “fixed” it to make sure you graduated basic training. Uncle Sam needed body counts in the ‘Nam!

I didn't make it through BCT due to my father passed away when I was at Ft Jackson and when I was at Ft Jackson and I wished I had drill sergeant who helped motivate me going through my rough time. The more I watched people graduate it makes me want to come back and actually complete. I actually fell under the failure to adapt.

I knew someone who was in basic for over a year. Went on hbl twice. Medical issues don't necessarily disqualify you. I fractured both my feet in basic. At the forge after NIC and battle march and shoot were completed. Most heartbreaking thing ever to be so close and watch all your buddies leave while you're stuck on medhold. But they don't chapter most injured. Usually, you just become a holdover while you do physical therapy or go to stay at an FTU (fitness training unit) while you recover, followed by a rehabilitation program called walk to run. It usually takes anywhere from 2 weeks after getting off of crutches (crutches themselves are usually 6-8 weeks) to 12, but there are instances where it's longer or you can't leave because of paperwork errors. Then you go back to whatever week you fell out at, or in some cases, if you completed all the graduation requirements prior to injury, straight to AIT. ACFT failures also go to FTUs to improve until they pass. The only real way to fail medically is if you have surgery from your injury, if you have mental issues, or if you don't heal. Osteopenia also gets you chaptered, so make sure you drank milk before you sign up!

I went through basic at Ft Jackson, S.C. back in 2006. I always told people that basic wasn't that hard. What made it hard was YOU. Even if you're a fat body, if you do everything the DS tell you to do and just stay motivated and keep doing the training, you will pass. And after basic training you will be in the best shape of your life.

There is one more way you didn’t mention because it takes a truly special person to go this way. Long story short we had this girl that did not want to do PT just minimal effort lazy and we suffered as a platoon extra most mornings while the others went to chow. Come peer review she was moved to another company restarting in red phase. Now that wasn’t the end because one Sunday I decided to go to church services instead of cleaning and writing to the fam and where I heard other trainees complaining about a girl fucking their company over. Turns out it was the same girl refusing this time in front of some serious rankage that morning and punished the company. Supposedly this isn’t 100% sure but they moved her again due to peer review and I really doubt she passed basic if that’s true. PEER REVIEW VIA YOUR BATTLES could be considered a mix of pt and failure to adapt

What about eye sight? I feel like my eyesight would stop me before I even got started I’m assuming they would be pretty strict on eye test (understandably) I have pretty bad eye sight and a rare condition that causes the nerve in my eyes to constantly jiggle and they get worse when trying to focus on far away objects but I’ve always wanted to join the service and would enlist tomorrow if I thought I had a cold day’s chance in hell of qualifying

I’m am 6’4 380, I carry my weight well, it doesn’t look like i weigh that much but i do, would it even be possible to pass it? i’m strong, I’m more agile then people would expect I walk a lot and play sports but I just have a health condition that makes it more difficult to lose weight but i wouldn’t consider that as a health condition that would stop me from being approved, It would more just be the weight itself and lack of excercise and frequency. Any help would be great,
