5 Ways to Move on After Break-Up
Going through a break up and letting go of someone you truly loved is one of the most difficult things in the world. Unfortunately, due to various reasons, it is necessary. Sometimes, you know what happened. Other times, you feel that slowly things changed and you are not able to find that one reason for the breakup. But the fact is you have broken up. If you want to move on in life and find happiness elsewhere, you need to take action and just not be sad.
Cut Contact :
The first thing you need to do is cut contact with the person. You will never be able to heal and move on if you continue staying in touch with them. Delete phone number, pictures, etc. You are not erasing the person’s memory from your life. You are just removing your ability to contact the person, in case you are in a moment of weakness and think of contacting them.
Face Your Feelings:
If you are hurt and feel bad, don’t ignore these feelings. Don’t put on a brave face. Face your feelings, no matter how uncomfortable. Once you acknowledge that yes I am hurt, I feel bad, eventually you will accept the fact and you will be able to move past the pain.
Stop Fantasizing:
Stop fantasizing that one day he/she will come back or maybe they will change. Try to understand the truth and focus on reality. Accept the truth.
Practise Forgiveness:
Practice forgiveness. Don't stick at one point only. let it go. Repeat a simple mantra such as “I forgive you. When you forgive the person the wound will heal slowly.
Take Time:
Take all the time you need. Some people bounce back quickly and some do not. Take your time, understand your feelings and work on it. There is no hurry. Be positive in life. Yes the past relationship did not work. But think about why it didn’t work and how you can make changes to your life for a better future. Have faith in yourself, we have one life to live.Go out and live, get to work, pursue passion, meet new people, or go on an adventure. Whatever it is, start creating new experiences. The more you do this, the easier it will be to move on and you may find someone who is perfect for you.
