Hi! I've just subscribed to your channel as I am moving home soon and love all your tips!! 😀 I wanted to comment on this video specifically as the 1910's terraced house we are moving too has a small-regular sized living room with a beautiful ornate (non-working) fireplace in the middle of the room and I am really struggling with planning out the layout for this!! 😞 Essentially, we are having real difficulty with planning where to situate our TV and sofa around this fireplace, as my husband is a huge techy and gamer so his TV set up is super important. Unfortunately we don't have an Old Cove or wall recess which is the most common solution. We also have quite a large tv and sound bar to contend with... (In our current set up, we have the TV wall mounted with a large tv bench to hold the sound bar, playstation, xbox, nintendo, etc, within it). As the fireplace is non-working, we are considering wall mounting the TV on the wall opposite the fireplace (which is the only wall in the living room with enough flat space to do so) with the large tv bench under it, and having the sofa floating in the middle of the room, facing the tv with its back to the fireplace (leaving a narrow walkway between the sofa back and fireplace). I am just not 100% sure if this would be the right decision as it 1. will it make the room look smaller? and 2. will it just look odd to have a sofa back to the fireplace?

Thanks so much for watching and subscribing :) Ooo this is an interesting one, if you have an image I'd be happy to look and provide my feedback, you can send to hello@sleek-chic.co.uk , I personally would try to avoid covering up the fireplace as it's typically the focal feature of a room and won't look right stepping into the room with a sofa in front of it. If I can see a photo it will help me to visualise a bit better and hopefully come up with a workable solution for you!
