I would add TikTok to the funnel. You can make short coloring videos like on YT. There is a whole bunch of videos of people filling out journal books on there as well. Love the videos! I find them so helpful. Thank you for posting!!

Love your videos! I am procrastinating so much on my coloring book, you’d think I was writing a 100 chapter novel! It’s actually kind of hard to design a cover aimed at children when your own kids are adults now. Great advice for the reluctant marketer over here. 👍🏻

Don’t stress too much about designing for kids since it’s mostly adult parents that will be looking at the cover and choosing for their children! :) Have fun and good luck!

I made a low content book where people can fill in the blanks of haikus. I was over the moon when I had sales in Germany and U.S.A.

Hi I love your videos, I just wanted to note though that Pinterest works a bit differently, it's an SEO driven platform so you don't really have to take the approach of adding the value-based pins, you could just add all shop pins but the key is to make sure your keywords and descriptions are on point. One thing I noticed there is that the entire books you showed in amongst the coloring pages were both promoted pins which means they are paying to advertise them. (I'm a Pinterest Manager). Thank you for this video :)

Thank you for this content, good ideas on how to use social media. Now going to create a Face book account.

You can also put your newsletter link in the front of your books so even when they Look Inside they can see it and sign up.

Paul- AS A KZreadR TOO, you do realize in this video you have like 6 other video ideas right? you can take us through each of those ways of promotion...so for example I just started but I have a KZread channel aimed at women so that will give me a marketing channel. I'm so glad you are discussng this AS it's key I think to make any money....folks have to know who you are OR OR, your book is so good, so unique it rises to the top. Or ideally both.

Just published my first hardcover journal this week. I mostly did it for me and as a unique Christmas gift for the journalers in my life. I'm currently considering doing a bit of advertising to hit that Christmas crowd. My one concern was getting the right book size.

@@matthayes533 When your hardcover publish does Amazon give the disclaimer In Stock Soon? All my hardcovers have that disclaimer. On my Amazon Author Central page it says Out of Stock. Also it doesn't appear to offer Amazon Prime delivery. I just wondered if you noticed anything similar. I really love the quality of these hardcover journals, however, this seems to be a hard handicap to overcome. I am just looking for insights to see if others have faced the same issue. Your channel has been a wealth of help. Also you Gumroad site is full of great stuff. I have bought some. I like it very much. Thank you for all you do! Best wishes

@@Deserthorror Mine does have prime delivery - I'm in the US. It does say in stock soon order now which is better than my first experience where it took 3 months for my paperback to become available due to a glitch on amazon's part. I was able to order author copies which should be here in 2 weeks. Right now I'm telling myself the "in stock soon" is a byproduct of supply line issues, but then its only my 2nd kdp published work so I've never had something instantly available from them.

There are free tools - ubersuggest. I use the Amazon search bar. The best resource.

I was expecting suggestions for the non fiction, Paul, so basically Amazon can shut your account down anytime. wow

Hi Paul, Is it ok to create a brand name which contains the word "publishers"? For an example "passionate city publishers". Does amazon allow us to use a "brand name" like that? Also when publishing our book, do we have to enter the "brand name", in the same slot which is allocated for author's first name and "last name"? Thank you.

Yes, you use the first and last name of the author box. That’s a good question about the word publishers. I’m not sure as I don’t think I’ve seen anyone with an author name using ‘publishers’. I’ll look into it but I would suggest contacting KDP support as they’ll give you the definitive answer. Good question 😆

Hi Paul! I'm getting a ton of valuable information from your videos. My question is about Jade Summer. If you go to the Jade Summer author page/About Jade Summer, it says: Jade Summer is a brand owned by Fritz Publishing LLC (this is a publishing company in south Africa). If you go to individual Jade Summer coloring books, the product details says: Publisher: Independently Published. How are they doing this? Also, I was thinking that the Fritz Publishing Brand method, might be a good way to establish various niche books under one umbrella. Can this idea work as an independent? I have been doing freelance writing and public relations as a consultant (as an individual) for years under Montgomery Media Enterprises. I opened my KDP account with that as the business name. Could I then use one pen name for say home schooling books and another pen name for adult coloring books and then put them under the umbrella of Montgomery Media Enterprises? - but where? As the publisher? Use independent publisher and use Montgomery Media Enterprises in About Author? Thanks in advance for your insights.

That's becasue they publish via the KDP platform. There is nothing preventing a buiness publishing via KDP. There is nowhere really to put your business name. If you really wanted it on the listing then maybe add it as a contributor.

They can buy from Amazon or, if they have the ISBN number they should be able to order from their local book shop.

How do you get the images at the side of your books? Is there a certain criteria. I couldn't find any videos on it.

@@paulmarles she could be referring to a 'side view' of the book. I've seen some kdp listings have extra photos that are various angles of the book (ie. Standing up seeing spine and cover, book in mockup photos, etc )

MORE ... sales? You must be joking Doc! I live in a Third World country and simply cannot advertise in any which way in dollars or pounds. Bottom line: NONE of your tips are of any value if there is NO way for me to get people's eyes on my books. And there simply ARE no ways to achieve that. Successful people do not (necessarily) produce better books than mine. They just manage to get eyes on their books. It really is as simple as that.

You know, as long as you believe you can't generate traffic, you wont. The very fact others are generating traffic shows it can be done but I suspect none of them said... there is no way to achieve that. You have not only put a good effort into the suggestions, you have to keep on doing it more than a few times. KDP is a marathon.

But the FACT remains: thousands of people CAN afford to advertise in dollars/pounds and hence THOUSANDS of people have a massive advantage over me. My books will always enter at the end of the cue and will forever remain at the end of the cue ... of thousands of books.

You just need to continue at this practice like other authors. Their books just didn't appear in best sellers. This isn't an overnighter of making money. It's all about improving your writing and bringing your best. Those people did that and succeeded. I am in the same boat. DO YOU HAVE A KZread CHANNEL to show us how it's done? I don't think so. So until you come up with YOUR OWN VIDEO that teaches us how it is done, please do not knock the rest of us that is understanding Paul's point. REALLY??? Maybe you need to take up a writing class. Just saying.

My writing is better than most, but I'm not in the "writing" sector of the game, I'm in the no or low-content sector. And how do you propose I ... a) create a KZread channel to "show us how it's done" if I haven't actually "done" it, and b) get people to actually watch my channel or video if I can't get them to watch my books on Amazon? Do you mind pointing me to your KZread channel in order for me to see how YOU have "shown us how it's done"?
